Democratic Party since probably the 70’s has largely abandoned fighting for anything in traditionally red states and usually cedes the ground and puts very little money into on the ground organizing. Any momentum against Republicans in these states comes from grassroots organizing. Fighting for voting rights should be near the top of the list of where if the Democratic party is interested in maintaining power it should put its money and effort into. Going forward this will decide if anything remotely progressive, even incrementally so, will be won. If you allow the Republicans to strip voting rights and disenfranchise more people than you’re basically writing yourself out going forward. If people can’t see victories in their day to day life than why fucking bother, voting doesn’t mean anything.

Fuck, it’s depressing my cynicism is also what the majority of people feel as well.

I no longer prognosticate when Republicans are involved. Too much chaos, too many variables.

There will be diminishing returns on this strategy, but it will continue to work.. until it doesn't. At that point, it'll probably be like the weimar republic. Either we go Fascism, or we go Socialism. Plenty of political pundits seem to understand this, and are trying to stack the deck in their favor. Edit: this is just my own personal impression, but I imagine I'm not alone in thinking this.

Hollywood. Is your time to shine! Take all your business out of Georgia. Tyler Perry close shop and move it to a blue state. Hit them where it hurts.

"No, because the Democratic Party is going fight for voting rights" ROFL

Itll work in the immediate I'd imagine but eventually the state will go Blue unless the GOP diversified

That you still consider the democrats any different than the Republicans is all we need to know...

I think the Republican strategy will fail because the voice of the people WILL BE HEARD. I also think Democratic strategy of giving more voice to corporations will fail for the same reason!

We're being played by two sides of the same coin. Both American parties ultimately answer to the same masters. until something is done about it, you will get the same shit every term again and again.

As long as the Georgia Democrats keep giving the people little worth fighting for, the people will feel little incentive to protect them. You can strong arm and lecture people about voting but only for so long.

Republican Governor Brian Kemp on Thursday signed into law a measure passed by Georgia’s Republican-controlled legislature to restrict voting rights in reaction to Democratic gains there last year. The Republican Party's survival is all about holding down voting by any means necessary. Do you think their strategy will continue to work? https://youtu.be/fsHsFa3XRGU
