Until we actually see what the Olympic competition will be like, I don't think it's fair to even compare it yet. Yeah, based on what we know already, it doesn't sound good. Sure, the every 4 years prestige for the Olympics is great, but the actual location makes a huge difference. And if it's not executed well, who will watch or care?

Olympics is like one event. You get through trials, Heats, semi's etc. One event; one Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal. World CT Championship represents a year of more than 10 contests world-wide, wildly varying conditions. Each CT contestant represents his or her nation and flag. There's no comparison really, Surfing olympics only adds a novelty to the progression of surfing in history.

Theres a world tour CT every year. Olympics only come around once every 4 years. So gold medals are way more rare

This is a good question after surfing has been in the Olympics for 10-20 years. After somebody has won a world title AND the Olympics ( like John john ha)

World Title Means more for the ages. Medal is more your country related.

Surfing is not an Olympic Sport. It will be embarrassing and boring to see Olympic level surfing in 1ft shit🥱🥱

And that's what's wrong with this country and world. More people picking world title. That selfishness shouldn't be more important than winning a gold metal for yourself and your country. SMFH 😷🇺
