Didn't expect you to be this disillusioned and misinformed about reservations. Reservations in India are not a poverty alleviation scheme, they are scheme to remove the negetive discrimination that still exits against dalits. It doesn't matter if they are rich or poor. 80 percent of dalits and tribals in India are still landless, property less, privilege less. You help students study abroad. Please go through some study abroad statistics based on caste and see why the percentage of dalits and tribals who end up in the 1 cr fees colleges of the US is soooo less. NCRB publishes crime reports every year. Go through it and answer why most violent crimes are still against people from these communities. Mayawati is an exception (who also became rich after becoming a politician otherwise she also was from a pior background only) not a trend. Where as upper castes holding most of the country's capital is a trend. Go around the posh areas in metro cities and look at the castes of the landowners. Caste reservation exits to get more caste representation in top positions and not to alleviate poverty. for fuck's sake get informed and stop talking about caste reservation as a poverty alleviation scheme. Even rich SC/ST Dalits tribals(the percentage is veryyy little) are looked down upon and considered lesser than their UC colleagues. The reservations exist to remove this negetive discrimination thay people like you have in your mind against "equal representation". Not everyone is privileged enough to study for GRE GMAt pay lakhs to agents and go abroad. The 80 percent of tribals and dalits in India are still doing sweeping jobs and cleaning gutters ragpicking. No one asks why upper castes are never seen working as manual scavengers, why janitorial jobs are still done by backward castes solely. The few backward castes who've managed to escape this nexus after years of harwork and have become rich are frowned upon again by uninformed privileged UCs like you who wouldn't give a shit about reading the actual statistics of things despite having been educated from the best of colleges abroad. That's one of the reason that youth of India is moving abroad for professional opportunities cuz they know things might be difficult there but they will be definitely fair.

Hate to participate here but couldn't help myself. Reservation has nothing to do with money guys. It is there just to make sure that there are atleast few people in good positions from lower caste also. This is to prevent discrimination against these people, which some of you might think doesn't exist but unfortunately it does. I know it looks unfair to gen category people when they can't get jobs and college seats but harassing and saying bad things to lower cast people is also not fair. It's not their fault that they were born into that particular cast. Instead of saying remove reservation if everyone focuses on removing caste system then it will do some good. Please don't hate on each other, let's understand the real issue here. No caste system no reservations!

Referring to some rich Dalit person to argue that reservation should be removed is as pointless as saying that this guy and Ambani are same. C'mon guys, we are students who prepare for GRE analytical writing and we of all people have the ability to spot out the logical fallacies in the image. And most importantly, reservation is set in place to combat social inequality (which exists as a result of hundreds of years of discrimination) and not economic inequality. There are other means by which the government attempts to solve economic inequality, and we should not make the mistake of mixing up the two.

No doubt reservation is needed it's indeed WELFARE and upliftment of the socially backward communities But!! Reservation was never meant to have a negative impact on the general public, they must be unaffected by the st sc's reservation.....maybe that's where the problem lies...guys even I'm also a general candidate !!! It's a sad case. But the govt wants peoples' votes and such reservations play a major role in influencing the bulk of lower caste citizens.

I also agree with you Yash Our country does needs to abolish Reservations,but at the same time Govt. Should ensure to provide opportunities for all citizens irrespective of class,caste, religion,race and ethnicity. I Myself belong to Upper caste and due to this I lost so many opportunities in India

When you see a dalit mayawati with cores you miss to see crores of dalits with no access to education and proper living facility. If you need question the authority to bring equal education system. Tired of talking about the societal advantage which general category has and dalits lack. Have seen slot telling thats y we move abroad. But understand you moving abroad is the societal privilege you have which dalits don't have .. question the government not the dalits who need reservation. Equity always above equality

many guys saying this is the reason that youth is moving out of country..so they have money to go study abroad...they can do something in their life atleast....but sc caste people cant open shops businesses because they will be harrassed by the so called intelligent youths parents....education is the only way for us...not for living a lavish life...but for survival...and the so called upper caste students are suffering because of their parents ill deeds who unfortunately are so dumb that having higher population is the only way for them..kanishk kataria was a sc candidate...he graduated from iit bombay and cleared ias in first attempt and got rank 1 ..and was the highest scorer in prelims mains and interview.and was working at samsung in korea and samsung does not see caste..they see the brains...if the reservation was not there..theres a high chance upper caste people would have forced him to clean toilets too..
