Be careful of counterfeit resistors... Now I know why my electronics projects are not working! Haha

@jjhack3r

As long as the resistance is what they are labeled as they should be able to handle the extra power considering the ceramic blocks they are embedded in will pull away heat away quicker, allowing them to handle higher amounts of power without reaching their maximum rated temperature.

And all credit goes to China.

If the inner windings melt because they were not rated for higher temps, it does not matter how thick the added ceramic material is. These fake resisters will fail faster because their inner material is created to withstand less heat. Heat sinks on resistors only helps them survive just a little past normal operating temps.

@Drstein-99

Thanks for the skeptical information, that could be useful if you shared a way to identify counterfeit resistors. I pay $1.00 WITH SHIPPING for 100, from China. Whoever selling them to me is not going to retire off the profits - since there is at least $1.00 of material here.

@amarsinghania7080

Hahaha i always check my jumper cables and resistors with a dmm before use...a habit that I acquired after many instances when i spent hours troubleshooting and googling stuff to later find out that I was using a bad jumper cable or a passive component !!

@MrNorthstar50

Yes you are right about the resistors be to shame many things we buy from China now are below standard and deceptive ratings

They resist to disipate 5 watts :-)
