Hey y’all,
Hope you are well! Thanks so much for 14K!! ❤️

Working on some new musical things but currently looking for some ideas on upgrading my sound quality, any ideas? I want something that’s good for brass instruments/sound but not something super expensive. Should I get a new mic or interface? Thanks again for any ideas.

The XM8500 is a really cheap alternative but you would need a decent USB interface with it. The mic goes for around 15 dollars and a good interface for 50-60 dollars

I would recommend a usb microphone. They cost around 40-60 bucks and are really decent for a starter. Just plug it into your computer and it usually works immediately.

I would start with some sort of cardioid condenser mic. They have usb ones for decent prices, I wouldn’t go below $80 though. You could get a cheap single input interface from behringer or scarlet and then get a better quality recording with a xlr cabled cardioid condenser like the audio technica at2020. Just make sure the interface has phantom power.

Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 i think its called? (Or solo if you'll only ever need 1 input) Its nothing fancy but does all you'd need! There's some software called reaper that works smoothly with it! Would highly recommend! It took me a bit of learning to make my first video but well worth it 🙌

What mic do you have right now? I use a Snoball hooked up to just a Mac mini from like 2009 and most things sound pretty good when you tweak out the angle and distortion adjustments.

If you don't know what you are doing usually an iphone i more than good enough. It redicioulus how much money and time need to be used to get close to an iPhone on auto.

What about to try something like Jobim/Buarque? There's a song called "Ligia", beautiful to play in brass instruments, it's a little bit sad song, that's true, but very intimate e harmonic. I think you'll like. Hugs from Brazil/Rio!

If you want to try something stronger, play something from Frankie Ruiz (musical genre: Salsa) or if you prefer Chet Baker Play "Time After Time". anything would make me happy. Thank you :)
