I waited until Apple revealed the new Mac Pro and its price. I was planning on buying one if the price was reasonable like $2000/$3000 range. Not a chance now. I'm very disappointed to say the least. I own two Mac Pros (2008 & late 2013) and now it's time to move on to new horizons and save money.

4th option. I have to wait to see how much it will cost in Chile and the upgrades I can have. Here we we just have retailers who charge crazy money for these products and I can't bring one on a suitcase from the US 😭

For sure. I value the amount of power it will bring to my VFX workflow, & in the editing business, time is money. So absolutely YES!

As an audio engineer, I am starting to outgrow my current Mac (2017 mbp), with project sizes forever increasing and becoming more demanding as I grow my skills further. Although the MacBook will be usable, I can see myself purchasing a dedicated production machine (wether that be the new Mac Pro or iMac Pro, I am not yet certain). However this is not to say that I won't be using the MacBook after purchasing a new desktop. it is still a very capable machine, considering.

I wonder if the afterburner card can be built into the next MacBook Pro.

Waaaaaaaaaay too expensive. Apple needs a 'prosumer' desktop that is in the $2,000 range but can still be user serviceable.

The Mac Pro is pricy, but you can replace everything in it. So when you have more $$ you can replace the CPU/GPU or motherboard even later.

But in 10 years I probably will lol. Hopefully this will drive the price of the trashcans down. I actually really like the TC Mac Pro, but the price/performance ratio is terrible right now.
