I discovered aot when I was in a really dark place and it really helped me get through a lot. It's weird to call aot a comfort show but the characters and their happy moments brought me so much joy. This has been truly an amazing and unforgettable ride and the memories shall remain forever in my heart.
I knew from the beginning the ending wasn't gonna be perfect, cause how could it be? Everybody had their own expectations and wishes and it would have been impossible to satisfy all of them. However, the good ending was a great unexpected surprise. Was it unfair for some characters? Yes. Has it left a lot of unanswered questions? Also yes. But still I can't help but be grateful that they are at least together , alive and have a long life ahead of them.
I have a feeling that this ending was a bit rushed since Isayama isn't really the type to leave plotholes in the open like that. In addition, I can't help but feel like Reiner's character has been done so dirty. All that development seems to have been thrown out the window in favor for some simp and horse jokes. The warriors in general have been honestly done dirty. Didn't Gabi and Falco deserve to see Zofia and Udo in the fog too? Or Reiner see Bert or Porco? I'm not even going to go in depth about Bertholdt in general because I feel like he is the most mistreated character by both Isayama and the fandom. But it's truly sad to see the warriors ,which were such interesting characters be reduced to plot devices and forgotten about.
By far the most questionable was Eren's plan which didn't make that much sense and then all of the characters forgiving him in the end and even seeing him as a hero. He had good motives but mass genocide should never be seen as a solution no matter the circumstances.
But as I said before, it wasn't all that bad. Levi's ending was great and I'm truly happy Isayama didn't go the "kill all characters" route. After chapter 138 , this kind of ending seemed too good to be true but I'm happy the series didn't end on a bad note just for shock value.
It feels like I've spilled all my thoughts here but after reading the chapter I was filled with so many emotions that I felt the need to put into words and share them with you. But what did you guys think about the ending? Was it all you hoped it would be?
Even if this is the end of the series I don't plan on leaving the fandom any time soon and I'll continue to make playlists for as long as I'll have inspirations for them.
