Ketchup goes really well with it. The smell of mustard alone makes me dry heave, but ketchup is a must.

Ketchup is a must along with mustard...but another debate for another day is pineapple on pizza, yes or no

Look, I am very passionate about this subject. Some hotdogs can be enjoyed simply with a bun, no topping. But ketchup can universally improve the quality of a dog no matter the quality of said dog. Standard yellow mustard however, can decrease the overall quality of a dog. A top notch dog is required as a catalyst in turning yellow mustard from trash to treat. However, a good quality spicy brown, Dijon, or whole grain mustard can be used to elevate your dog experience, but aren't as universally common as your standard yellow, so your most reliable option as a go-to condiment is ketchup. It is readily available, reliable, and most importantly it is consistent. In fact, I would argue that the only condiment more important to a dog is the bun itself.

If there is ranch available, then using ketchup is considered taboo imo
