Those words ring true but my mind is still shackled. As much as I would love to be this free to express my hedonism, all I can hear are years of elders warning me against heathenism. Lovely picture by the way. Be free king. π

Been here thinking about pleasure, and
joy, and
nature, and
where they intersect with decolonization
For so long our hedonism has been deemed heathonism
so in the absence of a colonizer,
we self-police our bodies to assimilate to a colonial ideal of acceptability
the colonial gaze lingers
in how we interpret ourselves in the privacy of our Home
and the spectating specter of post-colonial neoimperialism perpetuates itself, like passive income, but now with our skinfolk serving as its guards and guardians
Some days I feel perhaps the work of decolonization is too long for this lifetime, too heavy to fit it in between bouts & bursts of joy
So Iβma just focus on decolonizing my mind by decolonizing my body.
