I like your diagnosis of the Joker in the dark knight. I , of course, hated The Joker's Joker, which, turned him into a mentally handicapped Columbine kid ( I live in Colorado) . However I would be interested in knowing your thoughts on the Joker from the comics. I view is that what ever was in the vat of chemicals also contained a hallucinogenic agent. That left him with a permanent trip. You can see evidence of this in his garb. Purple, yellow green, happen to be some of the most prominent colors that come out when you are tripping. Part of his madness comes from the disassociation from reality caused by the hallucinations. After all the lives in a grim dark city( imagine the horror that a bad trip would conjure up. His anomie comes from, at least originally, in a belief that nothing is real. Hence his persona that everything is a joke. The biggest joke being that batman is good. He sees batman for his reality, a man with intense anger and violence. The bat needs criminal to keep his violent nature sated. After all he has the money to build a state of the art prison, in which no one could escape, But instead, Batman leaves them to Arkham, notoriously run by a criminal, and not too hard to escape. His need not to kill ( which he makes dogmatic) is how he justifies his actions, but it is actually based in the need for something to take his anger out on ( 'less it spill over into his personal life. In that sense The bat is responsible for all the death that occurs when they escape. The Jokers main goal is to get the world, and more over Batman to see it as well. Even if it comes at the cost of his life. Which is why he let's Batman catch him, to force a confrontation, and so doing, force Batman to break his rule of no killing. A twisted dichotomy of good and evil. I am interested in your 0thoughts, if you see this.
