I'd only choose one if there was a guaranteed way to get back to the present time.

Traveling in past or future is like being completely alone and not knowing how even common stuff work.

If I traveled back in time I would just guess everything that happens before it happens and become a super famous person known as the "Future Guessing Samaritan"

I would do the past. If you go forward your gonna live with the idea that everyone you care about is dead. If you go back to the past you can form bonds with past relatives and you know the people you care about aren't dead

Going 100 years into the past would be really dangerous because you could fuck up the whole world when you come back , but so is going 100 years into the future because when we get 100 years in the future the future will be different from what it was supposed to be

It depends on a few things. My Qs are: - Can i return to the present - Will I know ahead of time? If i can, I will go to the past and advance science by 100 years. Get the Manhattan project done in minutes, I know how that shit worked. Hell, I would teach them how to make antimatter and hydrogen bombs. Of course they will understand it all more but i wil give the ideas. - If I do change anything, will the track of time actually alter? I believe it will but want to know. It makes sense it would because when you alter the timeline, the timeline that succeeds it no longer exists now, and a new one is made. Heres another complicated thing. If you do return, and you return to the original timeline, and if what you do alters the future, you are either: A: Not really in the original timeline, but an altered one. B: You are in the original timeline but you changed a different one which would have in no way affected this one. Or C: You have, somewhere along the way, made a new parallel dimension. And if you have done this, it is inevitable that these 2 dimensions meet due to scientific experimentation. Either by one finding a way to enter the other or by them eventually merging. This will cause extreme chaos, as is expected, and possibly open up new dimensions if it is technology which merge the dimensions. If you open up new dimensions, out of scientific naivity of believing you are the alpha dimension, then you will encounter one with a superior race which will use the link and access to other dimensions for gain. Possibly pillaging dimensions. Possibly just being friendly. Or perhaps you open up the pandoras box so to speak and release maybe a plague, or even a dangerous apocolypse. Perhaps not zombies, but something similar could very well happen. A benefit of going to the future could be you finally figure how to harvest the accelerating energy of black holes and become a trillionaire charging the people of earth money for not using your superweapons.
