Do you own an airplane? Trying to decide what about aircraft ownership might be interesting to explore in a couple videos soon.

@nikcodling

I fly vicariously through your channel! Love your high quality production. It’s a really interesting insight into private aviation for someone like me that loves flying but can’t afford it as a hobby yet. Please keep up what you do. My personal requests would be more about the stuff you have to do - safety certification of the aircraft and personal admin etc - required to stay airborne. Plus how on Earth a guy in a single engine prop gets permission to land at a big international airport! All great stuff Matt. Thank you for your efforts and well done on genuinely being engaging and interesting.

I used to fly Cessna 152's a LONG time ago. Haven't flown in years, but your videos are inspiring me to get back into it.

I'm a virtual pilot, loving your videos!

I own a Piper PA28-180. Considering around 120h per year it is actually more affordable than renting. Even if I calculate an overhaul engine and prop over time. I personally love the freedom and flexibility. Getting up in the morning, having that itch to fly, driving to the airport and get going is an unbelievable feeling. Further you can customize your aircraft just as you like it! 😍

Sole owner of a Turbo 182RG. It has it's ups (fly when & where you want) & it's downs (cost). Happy to discuss.

Yes I own an RV4. Wouldn’t mind knowing about some of the Peripheral costs when flying IFR such as landing fees terminal fees etc and perhaps hangarage and maintenance costs with an aircraft such as a Beechcraft.

1968 Cessna 182 ( CO-own). I hope there is enough interest in this. Would love to see some videos. A few additional ideas: 1. how did you choose your A&P mechanic? 2. We have a Garmin 430 and a Garmin 296 (came with the plane). We use the 296 in”panel” mode as back up instruments. In other words, see what other tricks pilots use devices like this for.

But would like to buy a plane soon. 36 hrs into training. You've been a huge inspiration to me.

I own a Vans RV-7 that I built. The airplane is /G IFR equipped but the pilot is not! I've been a pilot for 34 years and am just now going for my instrument rating. I particularly enjoy watching your interactions with ATC and your instrument procedures in general. Having your own plane is really liberating - just jump in and go when the notion strikes you.

I share a PA28RT-201T with 2 other guys. We bought it in 1990. 2 of us are originals, The now 3rd joined us in 2011. Great partnership. The Bird has been in our family longer than 2 sons!

Would love to hear what you have to say about this. I’m planning on finishing my training in the next few years, so this would be great info for me! P.S. just saw your video on your visit to Mackinac City. Its a beautiful place! I live in Grand Rapids and it’s worth checking out! Great downtown... P.S.S. Just realized this is 7 months old. Perhaps I already watched it!

I'm in a flying club with 20 other guys with two planes, C172 and PA28. Not sure if that's considered renting or ownership. The right club is better than renting and is a great transition for those considering buying. It gets your feet wet on understanding all the other costs and maintenance involved.

I rent but I am looking for an aircraft. Nothing too fancy. A C-150 maybe. Would love to know what surprised you the most about aircraft ownership? The good and the bad.

@brendan3430

Rent, but certainly interested in the option of owning. Been told that 50 hours per year is the financial transition point where owning starts to break even. Would be good to look into this. Love your work.

30 hrs into getting PPL but from what I’ve studied about it it seems like ownership is the better way to go if your going to fly as much as possible
