@Mikefestiva

7018, 6013 👍 and I kind of wanted to click the “ none of them, stick welding is the worst” No it’s not that bad 😂, I just don’t use it all that often anymore. I’m looking forward to another video soon Tim

Love 7014 for fab work and easy storing, easy arc strikes, easy taks, it makes my life easier.

I like the slag peel of 7018 when you run a good bead

I’ve only ran 6013 so I can’t compare but I’m only practicing welding on weekends. I’m just about out and plan to grab some 6010, however until I can figure out the 7018 storage situation then I’ll buy some as wel

@christopherbooth1772

You should ask where people are from as in America 7018 seems the norm where in uk everywhere stocks 6013 unless dedicated welding supplier

It depends! ;) I know, I know - Standard cop-out... But it's the truth. 6010, 7010, 8010 (5P+, 6P+, HYP+, etc., but not 6011 lol) are an invaluable class of electrode because they offer so much control as well as downhill suitability. They're a lot more fun to use for me due the fact that you can manipulate the arc voltage and force to your will with just a little practice. It's not like TIG welding, but as far as stick welding goes, these are the electrodes that offer the most control. At the same time, a good 7018 can be quite satisfying to run. I do rather enjoy the cooperativeness of the slag. Usually you can get it to peel right off, whereas the sodium+cellulose flux electrodes (EXX10 class) inevitably leave very tenacious slag. Although it can become boring to run 7018 all day, they aren't going anywhere any time soon!

7018 might be my favorite. If I had new dry rod. This garage sale stuff with the lid off is hard to stay lit.

In the UK it's extremely hard to find 6010/6011 or even 7014

Do you have any videos on oxy acetylene?

@andrewgolub1347

I’m a stick welder first. Practically all of my experience is with stick and Mig. I really want to master stainless and aluminum TIG. I have very little experience with TIG! Any suggestions? AC TIG. Is it a necessity? My fav stick is 7018 (The beast)

@dognote1554

I only say 7018 since I have only used 6010 and 7018 since I am currently in a welding course and I can only get decent welds with 7018

Hey Tim, have you ever did a video on welding 12 gauge framing clips to red iron? I’m doing it in 3 and 4 G and it’s rather tricky and would like some pointers..

@larrybud

I can't work with 6010/6011. I'm terrible, I stick them all the time, and if I bump up the amps, I burn through. No problem with any of the others. (*never used 7014)
