This is so interesting. I wonder if there’s a way to just to not outright “quit” sugar, but to refrain from eating it... you know, a “no, thanks. I think I’ll pass this time” approach. Also, it’s very difficult to retrain your “reward” synapses. Hard to get excited about a pot of tea as a ritual reward for having accomplished something difficult. Does everyone HAVE to give it up? Can’t it just be a nice thing to have every now and again, or without obsessing? Crepes on a Sunday morning.... the draconian “never again” declaration is just too scary... Salads, btw, give me serious “agita.” I can manage cooked vegetables and many raw “hard” vegetables, but raw spinach, kale are unpleasant tasting, annoying to eat, and give me bad digestive problems. (Stages of grief over giving up sugar... denial, bargaining, depression...)
