You can literally just sit inside a car and listen to the radio for hours in GTA V. 😂

The freedom you have. It's almost a life simulation. You wake up, get dressed, take your car, change cars, pimp your ride, do awesome tricks. It's fun just to explore the world and live in it.

the amount of stuff you could do in that world is amazing and it’s also extremely fun no matter how stupid it might be

I think to this day it is the most alive feeling modern world ever made in a game. Cyberpunk only proved how it stands the test of time 😂

Endlessly replayable!! There is a stupid amount of stuff to do in GTA V, and even the stuff you have already done is still fun. The game is so dynamic in its enviroment that no one playthrough feels exactly the same as the last.

A giant city as your sandbox? It’s irresistible. Even in something like Mario odyssey’s New Donk City, that’s more focused on platforming as a pose to more rpg like interactions with the city, falls under the same spell of big city’s being inherently fun to play in/with. GTA 5 in particular is just one of the most realized big city sandbox games there is. From its scale, to its level of detail, to all the things you can do in it, and how open ended it all is, it’s just one of the best there is

I put my hands in GTA V last month, so not the best person to answer this but... The random bullshittery you can do with your friends is my reason.

The nostalgic feeling that hits and reminds you of older gta games AND PROBABLY THE FACT THAT YOU CAN DO LITERALLY EVERYTHING

The nightclub, waking up in the apartment, getting dressed, slapping degenerate clothes on and experiencing the weird social experiences ever

I literally grew up with GTA games and when it was free on EGS I quickly claim it even though I don't have a system that could play it yet. Now I'm saving enough to buy a laptop that's decent enough to play it even in low settings and I really appreciate it 😂

the mods for this games make it easy to get stuff looking fresh , I love flying aircrafts, driveing and police chases, its just a great stress buster.

Hopefully this gets some attention or likes but I enjoy GTA online because at one point during December 2013 I thought I was done had half a billion from a modder on 360 and was incredibly good at pvp deathmatches and had bought everything I wanted... till I met a group of guys who appreciated me helping them in a random message. They invited me to a party later and ever since that day -I created a successful Crew and ran it -Build amazing relationships -Learned money isn't everything -Was literally robinHood but helped everyone get rich and right. -Got into the modded car scene and am a reputable collector -spent 250 days ingame time playing just helping others or playing random missions and helping others in heist setups I have everything I ever wanted but still play this because there is something always new to do even if you did it before it feels fresh and the experience is awesome to help someone and see the reaction. Thanks R*

Yeah I love GTA 5 , I still have memories from when it first came out . Everyday after school , I would go over to my best friend's house so I can just watch him play , those memories are beautiful so I can proudly say ..... I hope that the game dies very soon . It's an awesome game , I really look forward playing it when I am old but I just want it to die . Rockstar is never going to move on , never going to let go and never going to make more incredible games like it if they don't have to . I really want GTA 5 to be remembered as a Great game , not the reason that Rockstar games died

I like the freedom of it. I don’t play it often, but when I do, I mostly drive around and listen to radio.

According to several charts, GTA 5 was the most sold game for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and the second most sold game on Xbox One (Halo 5 is first).
It is also top 3 seller every year on Steam since it came out.
I fully expect for it also to be the top selling game this generation as well.
For those of you who continue to play and buy GTA 5: What is it about this game that keeps you in? Why, in your opinion, is the game always so popular?
