I’ve seen countless Midway documentaries and videos. Yours made my jaw drop. Your choice to present it entirely from the Japanese POV was incredibly interesting and original! You can now totally understand Nagumo’s decisions and choices that fateful day. I’m really looking forward to Part 2. I hope you will talk a little about how amazing it was for the US Navy to work like mad to repair the Yorktown after Coral Sea. I’d also like to hear how you think things might have gone had the Shokaku and Zuikaku been there and if they would have made a difference. Maybe a Midway “What If?” video? Looking forward to see you tackle the Battles of Santa Cruz, Philippine Sea, and Leyte Gulf!

I am a Naval Officer and I used your video to help prepare for a brief I am giving in a professional development class. I can't wait to see what you come up with next! Extremely impressed.

I dont usually comment on YT but I wanted to say something. I've spent a lot of time this year watching history videos from some great content creators on YT, and I stumbled upon your midway video recently. I thought there was no way I was going to make it through the whole thing but it was captivated from the start, I ended up watching the whole thing. I learned a lot; can't wait to see your next videos. Subscribed.

First ever comment on YouTube, but that part 1 is worth it. Amazing job. Take your time. As others have said, quality takes time, especially if this is just a hobby for you. The quality of what I do in my spare time does not even compare with this effort. Cheers from Germany

Definitely the best historical presentation of Midway I've seen. You earned this success.

I am a history buff and one of my favorite subjects is WW2. I must say that I enjoyed the WW2 battles that you've done. Well done! Clear, concise and the animations really bring it all together. Keep up the awesome work...and thank you!

Got hooked on the raw information, the attention to detail, and the impartial narration. This has been a refreshing sojourn into military history, free from all the drama, over-embellishments, and propaganda driven bravado. Looking forward to Part 2 on Midway.

Midway is such a complicated story because like all battles, it’s entirely dependent on each side’s perspective through the fog of war. Your angle is very insightful and seems to be a niche you’ve found for yourself. Don’t let YouTube make you feel guilty or stressed out for not being able to keep up; enjoy what you do, your episodes already done will speak for themselves 🙏🤗

With the movie coming out this weekend, I wanted my mom to be able to follow the battle. Your documentary was perfect. She said it was so easy to follow and understand. Thank you. Looking forward to part 2!

These are by far my favorite war/battle documentaries. I do what I can to share these with others. This is how documentaries should be made. Your videos are my new benchmark.

Honestly I think you can make a career out of divulgation. You have really solid investigation skills and the ability to communicate it well... I guess your real job gives good money to relegate something you obviously have a passion for to a hobbie, anyways good job as always, keep it up!

“The Battle of Midway 1942: Told from the Japanese Perspective (1/2)” was excellent. Not even in books have I seen the problems of Nagumo so well explained. It wasn’t just the need to recover the Midway strike force that restricted Nagumo. Every failed attack from Midway, each of the failed torpedo squadron attacks, not just the last one, contributed to the victory. Without them, the battle would not have been won. This is an outstanding video.

Hi Montemayor, recent subscriber here. First contact via "The Battle of Midway 1942: Told from the Japanese Perspective (1/2)" video. After that I watched "Attack on Pearl Harbor 1941" video. Both of them were really, really enjoyable and equally educational. Now, for you to say that the "Midway" video was an "unexpected success" is intriguing because I believe that if you yourself had take a step back after finishing the video and watched it objectively you would realize at the end that the outcome was incredibly enjoyable. I mean, it's evident. In my opinion, you did hit a perfect balance between entertainment and education without sacrificing either of them. I could describe in detail why this video was perfect (soothing narration, laid back in the correct places without compromising factual history and taking sides, awareness of viewers comprehension progress, etc.). Sorry for the long post. No need to reply at all. Thanks for the great work and please do keep on!

I was just telling a friend about your Midway video and how I wish quality content like this was on the History channel instead of the junk they have now. I might actually watch TV again but then I wouldn't have found this golden nugget. Would love to see you get huge sponsorship to do this full time. Excellent insights and delivery. First class. Looking forward to part 2! (Yours is the ONLY channel I've clicked the bell on so I don't miss it)

I just want to give a shout out and thanks to all of my subscribers and viewers. Midway turned out to be an unexpected success. Thank you for all the positive feedback that I saw in the comment section.
And a sincere thanks to all who have donated! I greatly appreciate it!
To answer your question about part 2 : Well I have to say sorry guys, I’m still writing the script. I have state again that this is just a hobby, it’s what I work on during the weekends. Part 2 won’t be as long though, and I do have summer vacations coming up so perhaps I’ll get a good amount of it done then but overall, it’ll probably be a while.
Also, part 2 will just pick up the story where it left off, Hiryu vs TF 17 and TF 16 and it’s final conclusion. Then I’ll add a quick recap of the events from the American POV that will reveal how the US navy was able to get a drop on IJN.
