Hey there!

I'm ecstatic to see so many people enjoying the recent video on Super Mario Galaxy's spherical planets. It's been such a huge project for me that I was worried it wouldn't get any traction, but it's been doing fairly well! By far, though, the biggest request I've gotten is.. more detail! A lot of you want me to dive far deeper into the technical nitty gritty, explaining the 3D math behind each of the gravity fields, and the inner workings of the gravity system as a whole.

And I think that's a great idea!

So! My new plan is to still try to edit Part 2 of the Scruffy interview first, and have that up relatively soon, but after that, I'm going to start on the sequel to this video. And since it'll be more direct, and more detailed, I want to take the opportunity to experiment with the format; my typical "YouTube voice" just isn't the vehicle to talk about dot products and cone-ray intersection. So please bare with me while I figure all of that out, but I promise I'll try to keep it as interesting as I can, while going into a lot more of the actual underlying mechanics. Who knows, maybe it'll even be a livestream, and you can come hang out and ask me some questions directly! Does that sound like a good idea? I've never done one of those before, so it'll probably be a glorious disaster, but... I'm super excited!

Catch y'all in the next one. Take care, bye <3

I personally would prefer more of a video format for the sequel than a live stream, but you do you man! Love the channel

These videos are unique, and have been exactly what I've been looking for! I am really interested in these kinds of things, and I would like to learn so much more about it. I'm not too good at finding this info myself, but I try. I love these videos. I encourage you to keep making more!

It got almost as many views as your Wind Waker video in a fraction of the time, congratulations for that! Youโ€™re pretty good at making these concepts accessible for everybody. Keep up the good work, Iโ€™m looking forward to part 2 ๐Ÿ‘

I loved that video, your visualization of gravity fields really helped clear things up.

I just watched it and since I first got to play Galaxy in the switch collection, Galaxy was fresh on my mind. So as an aspiring game dev I really enjoyed the insight!

The Spherical Plants in SMG video is how I found your channel. As an aspiring game designer and huge fan of Nintendo games, I think I just found the perfect channel. Now excuse me while I go binge all your videos ๐Ÿ˜‚

love seeing some of the technical shenanigans that went behind the scenes in games, can't wait to see what other videos and topics you have in store

I've seen a few videos about gaming tech, but none are as well done as yours. Seeing your visualizations created via affecting the original things is really helpfull especially when going into graphical concepts. And yours are the only essays-styles that explain modern coding techniques. I never heard anything of this quality (and outside of a more direct tutorial format, but maybe I should look into GDC talks more) that focuses on modern graphics programming and modern computing. I also don't think you non-youtube voice is unfitting. I am hearing the long interview video currently and your voice is still clearly understandeable and explains things well. I'd also love to heqr about the more in-depth math in these things. I can think out some of the math about the gravity stuff, but it'd be amazing to see what they actually did. Especially interesting to know would be the optimisation reasons for how the math is done like it is done (if there is any like that). I figured out how to convert 3D verticies to 2D coordinates myself, but it turned out to be a far different way than what it is normally done like was interesting to see the different approach to that problem. (I did some sin and cos stuff to convert from 2D to 1D and then just expanded that)

I just found your channel from your SMG2 video and was incredibly thrilled to have found noclip.website from it. The depth in which you talk about videogames is extremely engaging and informative, all the best in your endeavours :))

A more technical-based video would be awesome, but I do like your narration voice! 'xD Honestly your content is just overall really good, I mean, woah

I loved the vid! Would you consider showing us how Super Paper Mario works? That game looks like it might have all sorts of visual tricks regarding the flip mechanic. Regardless, I'll continue watching because I'm hooked.

Your videos are some of the most unique content I've come across in a while, and however long it takes to make each one is worth the wait! Looking forward to seeing what else you put out!!
