1) Always look for the blue or gray check mark next to my name. Just tap the name and look for the check mark. That's the best way to ensure you're dealing with my legitimate account, and not an imposter. My accounts are verified across all social media platforms so they each have the check mark. 2) I never send friend requests, follow people online, or exchange private messages on social media. This is another tip-off you're dealing with a fake account. If you encounter any of these activities, the account is certainly fraudulent. 3) I will never privately ask you for money. If someone sends you a private message, asking for a donation, it's undoubtedly a fake account.
One final request: whenever you come across these fake accounts, please report them immediately to the social media service. It's the best and quickest way to remove them, and it will make sure they don't take advantage of anyone else.
