Were the wooden panels nailed into plasterboard or a wooden ceiling? I thought it was usually wooden strips (beading?) That the shipman would be nailed to? I was thinking about something like this but the existing ceiling is the board made of compressed and clued wooden shavings. Should I nail directly to that or remove the existing ceiling first?
