1.) from start to finish, how long does it take to make a pine needle basket? 2.) Do you listen to something or watch a show while you are working on a basket, or just concentrate on the task? 3.) Do you ever make a basket with something in mind that you want to put in it, or do you just try to make them pretty? Thank you for making this video, and I can't wait to watch it! MKS

How large can you go in diameter? How big is your biggest basket? I'm just a beginner and can only do the stitch that swirls around . I've only made small baskets, no bigger than 6 in across. Thank you for inspiring me to start. Your video was the first time I ever heard of pine needle basketry.

Your video inspired me to make my own pine needle basket. The pine needles in my basket seem to have shrunk since they have fully dried out, and so despite wrapping the cord very tightly the basket seems loose now. Did I soak the needles for too long or keep them too damp? Is there anything I can do to fix this basket or make it better next time?

I made my first basket after watching your video. It was fun but hard work to start. I struggled to keep the same thickness and needles were poking out here and there when I finished. I coated the entire outside with PVA it worked very well to add stability. So any tips on working with your gauge would be welcome. Thanks Marina

You are lovely and inspiring Marina! I’ve made a few baskets and am now making Christmas ornaments just using the round flat bottom of the basket and adding a few beads after. So fun! Marina, I couldn’t follow how to do the split stitches and v stitch. If you could explain those in more detail. Thanks!!! Xoxox Johanna from Beautiful BC Canada!

How long does it take you to make a basket, (not counting the time you spend searching for and collecting the pine needles)? I live in London - and I believe you used to too - do you have an idea where I could find pine needles here? What is the most difficult part of the basket to make? Am I right in thinking you need to have very strong fingers to make baskets? (I’m not well so I don’t think my fingers would be strong enough!). Finally, thank you so much for all your videos - they are like a breath of fresh air in my life! xxx

Hi Marina. Have you thought of using any other raw materials & making larger baskets or do you prefer to stick with the pine needles ? I personally think the pine needle ones are lovely. Take care xx

@Limbothy

How do you keep it from getting moldy/better ways to preserve it?

I love the thoroughness of your tutorial!😊

@AllisonAult

I saw videos of other people treating the pine needles with glycerin. What does this do? Will it help maintain the color and keep from molding?

1. Can I collect them while they are green? 2. Or brown but still on the tree? 3. And what about those fallen on the ground? Thanks for your inspiration.
