Hi, everybody. I want to talk to you all about something that is really important to me. It’s a long post, so please bear with me.

I prepared around 5 videos which I had planned to release in the few days leading up to al-Eid, but then something happened and I decided that the timing would not be right; there are more pressing matters that people need to focus their attention at. As many if not all of you already know, Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and the pre-48 lands are now, as I am writing this, coming under bombs, being lynched, targeted and beat, and evicted from their homes which are then given to settlers
.
The past week caused nothing but heartbreak for me. But since a very long time, I had felt something other than complete apathy, I was sad and I could barely manage to hold back my tears watching the many videos of Palestinians fighting for their rights to live free with dignity, smiling to the cameras as they were being dragged away by the Occupation’s forces.

Last year, I had come to believe, with much heartache, that the Palestinian cause have died with the ‘peace efforts’ of some regional players. My country, Lebanon, was bleeding, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan and Algeria were all bleeding, but Palestine… it was killed. That is what plagued my mind and I was crushed by the mere weight of the thought. I have long considered Palestine a second home for me and the Palestinian people my siblings. Their joy meant my joy and their sorrow mine. Imagine, then, learning that the Arab world has ‘overgrown’ the Palestinian cause and left the Palestinians defenseless and alone.

But here I am, reminded that so long as a single Palestinian draws breath then so does the cause with him, reminded that a just cause burns with an inextinguishable fire. I was also reminded that the people of the Arab world, weak and powerless as they are, refuse to give up on their brothers and sisters. And powerless and weak as I am, with a music channel as my only platform, and with a very modest following to it, I too wish to do my part and speak out loud what the world chooses not to hear: Palestine is suffering, Palestine is oppressed, the Palestinian cause is a just cause that supersedes any ethnic or religious considerations. Palestine concerns every single one of us and it is our responsibility as humans to stand with Palestine until it is free.

I always feared making clear political stances, I’d say: I do not want to confront anyone, everyone is entitled to their opinion, what if someone finds out of my stance and then denies me a job opportunity (in the Arab world, sad as it is, more so than the Western world), what if I word it wrong and offend someone, what if I lose subscribers, what if and what if. But today, I will make my stance very clear. I stand with Palestine; I stand with the people of Palestine now and until the day I die.

I hope no one conflates love and support for Palestine as hatred directed towards the Jews, because it is not. What really matters now is that we acknowledge that the Palestinians are being treated as sub-humans, living under an apartheid regime, uprooted and evicted from their ancestral homes and denied return on top of that. We stand against this blatant ethnic cleansing, land theft, and dehumanization of the Palestinian people which has been going on since at least 1948.

Before I upload the videos I have already finished, I want to share with you two songs by two of the most beloved Arab singers, Umm Kulthum and Fairuz, in support of Palestine, its people, their right of return, and their right for a dignified life in their ancestral homes.

Thank you for you time (and sorry about the bad Photoshop!).
