Monkees edge out the Turtles. Loved the songs "It Ain't Me Babe" and "You Baby", but they were both hits in 1965, so the Monkees it is.

I think all young girls of a certain age loved The Monkees (Davy Jones, in particular) at that time, but also "crushed" on The Buckinghams (Dennis Tufano, in particular). Musically speaking, though, I think most will agree that all the groups you mentioned, as well as their songs, have stood the test of time for all us who loved their music and bought their 45's back then, and who continue to be moved to the nostalgia of those better days by their music today.

Hard to believe The Doors weren’t in the top five...Light My Fire topped the charts forever that year...

That is so tough. Absolutely love all of those bands, but probably have to go with The Monkees.

I like the Monkees catalogue the best out of the acts.......however......they weren't really a band.... didn't write their songs....... didn't play on the records...........so I couldn't press THAT button

In the context of 1967, all these American groups largely owe their musical existence to the Beatles. Just think of it, in 1967 it was the Summer of love, in music and style under the shadow of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Here are the top selling American, all-male, rock groups in 1967. Which one do you like the best? (There are a lot of other groups that weren’t quite as successful in ‘67 such as The Doors, The Beach Boys, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, Jay & the Techniques, The Box Tops, etc... if your favorite from ‘67 isn’t in the survey, please comment)
