So my video, ABBA - Dancing Queen (Vaporwave Remix), was just blocked worldwide due to copyright. Even though, they claimed it and have been making money from it since it was first posted. Any suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

*Update* I've been working with the former VP of Sales of UMG helping him to find new lofi artists for the music distribution company he works with now. I decided to reach out to him and ask if there was any way he could send in a favor to get it unblocked. He said he's going to see what he can do so hopefully everything works out. I'm still thinking of a backup plan just in case. Thank you guys for your help and continued support. It really means a lot to me.

Research how to make the VP tasks easier in mind to save his time; act accordingly. The way to result is to proceed a project plan of work. Call this a case within the Youtube company. Get a binder and start organizing and documenting everything. Reach out Youtube as well get everything you can. Put it all together and do all of their work for them all as much as possible. The second any of them fail down two months long stretch in proceeding forward: seek an attorney. In the meanwhile, multi task by uploading a 30sec sample of it, video based and upload to sound cloud and downloadable links, ask your friends and fans to share. Seek to show this as a source of revenue for the band and label by offering to become an official legitimate streamable remix. If they banned it to begin with it must have peaked a commercial potential. You made a beautiful contemporary urban art piece; may it be uncensored and its glory restored! You are worthy of respect.

So, the Dancing Queen remix got blocked, but not the I Feel It Coming remix, despite the latter being a remix of a newer song? Youtube's smoking something at this point.

*Update* He put a call into Universal but he doesn't think they'll remove the block. Apparently UMG are complete assholes when it comes to protecting their titles. I'm thinking about reaching out to ABBA to see if there's something they could do. I don't think I'll have much luck with that especially since they probably don't own much of the master at this point. So for now I'll be removing the audio from the video and people will just have to play it along side the audio from SoundCloud 😞

@o_higgins

Maybe post it on another site and have a link to it somewhere on your channel?

I'm no expert in this matter, but try reaching out to the artist of the original song. Remixes are done all the time so I'm sure there's something that protects you in regards to a remix.

unfortunately, copyright law seems to be against you. even though i and everyone else believes this is unjust, the big companies hold all the cards. big oof. don't be pessimistic, thought, i'm no lawyer and someone else might know what to do. just don't let this deter you from creating awesome remixes <3.
