Ross The Random

Y'all, I'm struggling.

On one hand, I feel like I need to add more dialogue to my videos. If I'm going to be able to get regular videos out, I'm going to need sponsors or at least something else to supplement ad revenue.

On the other hand, my best performing videos don't feature any talking at all. I don't know if this is simply because there is no language barrier, or if people were just more inclined to click on those projects. (Since some of my videos without talking don't always do well)

Anyway.. I'd appreciate all your input, your opinions mean a lot to me.

ALSO. My next video should be out this weekend, and if you liked the wasp you're going to love this one 😃

Love you all!

You are a very talented person and you can let your skill do the talking for you. I’ve seen it quite a bit in the comments on other “maker” channels that people tend to prefer to hear the sounds of the tools or music rather than narration, viewing it almost like ASMR. You could definitely do an intro/outro showing your personality and giving a little more information to your viewers. Probably makes editing easier as well if the speaking parts are separate from the working parts. I’ve always been of the opinion that content creation is give and take in that creators should provide the viewers with what they want to an extent, but should do what makes them happy, because at the end of the day it’s their baby. You definitely have enough subscribers to set up a Patreon or a buymeacoffee as well to help supplement your income. The more the channel grows the more sponsor opportunities will present themselves.

As was said before, the videos without talking are my favorite. Possibly including a small caption at the bottom about what is happening on screen wouldn't be a bad idea. And if/when you get sponsors, talk through the sponsored section. I don't know anything about how YouTube works, but I think trying to get more videos out more regularly might draw more attention from viewers as well as sponsors. Maybe try a few smaller, simpler projects in between larger ones. I do understand that getting things out might be difficult, so you should do whatever works best for you :) We'll be here to support you regardless, your work is amazing.

I should add that I realize many of my subscribers don't speak English and may not read this post. So if you're from a place where English is not the first language, I'd love to know! ❤️

I like watching videos without talking, but I enjoy it when there is a written description during the video telling me what is being done. I love your vids! 😁

That's a real hard one to figure out aye mate! Part of the reason I took a step back (from YouTube, not from making! Haha I just post on Instagram now really) I personally like them both! 🤦‍♂️ Sorry. Not much help there aye 😂 On the one hand, hearing what you're doing and the odd joke is awesome. On the other hand, I also like the projects where you pretty much have me guessing until the end. And I guess they also solve the language barrier issue. Maybe try to ask people what they would like to see at the end of you're next video and also do some social media polls? Sorry if I was no help at all Ross! Haha At the end of the day, it's you're skill and style we are all here for

English is my first language. I personally prefer videos that I can watch without sound and still understand what's going on, but I also watch plenty of videos with dialogue.

I think it depends on the type of video and on yourself. Some videos simply don‘t need any additional words 😀✌

I will watch anything you do. If you wanna do ads, maybe just put them in mid video to not just get skipped at the end.

Love your vids as is. But I can see wanting to add some of your personality to attract more viewers. I'd watch either way. I say do you, and your tribe will find you. I'll stick around whatever you do.
