Maybe... maybe kids back then are exactly why current shows are like this. You see, this picture implies kids' high creativity and joy back then. As such, when they grow up, they put all those creativity and joy into their creations, such as kids shows. What this does on the other hand, is nulify kids these days' imagination, as everything is delivered by their entertainment. Combined with all sorts of safety and higher standards, shows become incredibly joyful and happy and safe, but kids arent forced to fill in or make better using their imagination. Also because of modern economical, political, and social state, kids become less happy. ... ... Do you remember the time where life was better than the one in tv?

Maybe that's the reason? We watched so much messed up stuff we found joy in the regular life. Nowadays all kids movies show a perfect, beautiful life. And it either is good or always ends good. They look up to it, thinking that's how it is supposed to be / other have it, and when they realize how miserable life really is... Well....
