What YouTube likes isn't actually what the people who watch videos online from presenters and streamers. It's just YouTube hates that Friends of Theirs aren't likeable by the general public.

If it's more focused, there might be less interest (ex. I wouldn't want to watch a channel that just posts a bunch of COD videos.) There are a lot of variety channels, but if you do it well I think a lot of people would prefer to come to yours (me included).

I voted for the variety, but I wanted to clarify that it should be just to start. Get a feel for what reactions people are giving you depending on the genre/topic, and focus on the stuff that gets you the most clicks/engagement. Seems like you've got a great head on your shoulders, and I'm a sucker for a girl that plays JRPG's (OMG, find me a hot chick that meets my drive that wants to run parallel Persona 5 saves and I'd marry her in a heartbeat), but gotta give you the advice that seems more likely to succeed.

Hey guys, I’ve decided to make a separate new gaming focused channel. I don’t think YouTube is ever going to let this channel grow with all the adult stuff on it and the fact that it’s just all over the place and YouTube likes channels with more focus. Gaming is what I’m most passionate about and have more ideas for. I will still post stuff to this channel but I will be more regular on the new one.
With that said what would you be more likely to watch? I prefer variety but it might be better to go with something more focused, like only VR games.
