MrMobile [Michael Fisher]

I had fun with "The Messaging Phones" in the latest episode of When Phones Were Fun. But I think I'm even more excited that this officially frees me up to do a Nextel video! (Or maybe Nokia N95; we'll see.) Meantime, if you want a nostalgic dive into mobile history for a lazy Sunday ... check out the whole series playlist here!

Awesome series. The phones of yesteryears may not be as feature-rich as today's smartphones, but they sure were a lot more fun.

One of my friends had an N95 and it always made me so envious of him! That phone was a beauty.

Please be the N95 🀞 It's one of my all time favourite phones I've ever owned. I kept it for years. Then when I stopped using it as a phone, I used it as a Sat Nav for a while. Before my Dad asking if he could have it. Then he used it for a few years too

The N95 was an amazing phone, my dad had several of them, when the sliding ribbon went or the speaker would get full of metal filings (he's a fabricator) he would cannibalise one for parts and he did this repeatedly for years. He did the same for a Nexus 6 that he's only just upgraded. I always loved the N86 myself, had one but unfortunately the build quality wasn't great and the vibration made the top slider rattle something horrible so it had to go back. I'd been pining for that phone for so long before I ended up replacing it with a 5800

Hell yeah, Nokia N95 was so smart when it came out. Moving from Moto Razr to Sony Ericsson K850i to Nokia N95 felt like a bunch of huge leaps in technology.

The N95 was one of those phones that I dreamt of when it came out. A few others were N900, E7, the Motorola Razr V3i and the flagship models from Sony's Cybershot and Walkman series. Couldn't get my hands on any of these πŸ˜”. I really do hope you do a roundup of all Nokia N series models one da

Pleeeeeeaaase do the one with N95 8GB version. It was my second ever phone (right after K750i) and the one that I carried for so many years. It was a smartphone before smartphones.

As well as Sony Erricson Walkman, CyberShot etc. A look at other N95 like phones would be good also. I carried a Nokia 6288 when the N95 was the hot thing for example. Still a great phone with 3g, front facing camera, video calling, etc.
