Linin Up Ducks

For the second time in the past two years we have lost everything that society holds dear. With the exception of the clothes we brought to a new rental home, a few of the kids toys, and a couple of pots and pans; we have lost all of our worldly possessions.

Thursday night at 11:00pm our lives were forever changed when our rv burned to the ground less than 24 hours before Scott and the kids were supposed to arrive to pack up and move the rest of our belongings over a fun relaxing weekend.

When scott called me with the news I went immediately into business mode to get the insurance claim started only to find out that, unlike all of our other insurance policies, this one did not auto-renew. We have no insurance.

Praise the Lord our earthly possessions were covered by our rental insurance policy on the new rental house but there is still nothing for the other damage. Not only did our rv burn but the fire did significant damage to a neighbors rv and to the rv spot itself. It will likely cost us all of our liquid assets to cover the damages. Most of our money was tied up in the rv itself and so is now gone.

Butt still…we sing our praises to our Lord in Heaven. My heart is so full of joy, gratitude, and peace that three months before the fire God led us to decisions that saved my husband and childrens’ lives. You see, it wasn’t a slow fire. It was an explosion and was completely engulfed in minutes. Today I could be burying my most valued loved ones in my life. Instead, they are safe and I am grateful.

I told my mother two days before the fire that I finally understand the phrase “a peace that surpasses all understand” it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt like hell but there is a peace in knowing God’s plan is better than your own. No matter what plan that may be.

One of my best friends has started a Go Fund Me page for us. My brother has reached out to our church for donations of clothes and coats. Basic life needs that we have always taken for granted. I. Am. Humbled. I am grateful.

My life verse is Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God;”. Oh my Heavenly Father I am still. I trust. I will wait.
