When The Influences asked me to cover a song that has influenced me, “Passionate Kisses” was the first one to come to mind. This song has been recorded by two of my biggest heroes and influences and I don’t remember ever not knowing this song. I first heard ”Passionate Kisses” sung by Mary Chapin Carpenter who’s music was one of the soundtracks of my childhood in Virginia. When I was in high school and rekindling my love for MCC and getting really into songwriting, I realized that this was actually a cover of Lucinda Williams, an artist who I had heard of but never listened to...and then my whole world burst wide open and I was never the same.
