Youtube censorship updates: our video "Mushroom Identification for Beginners: Spore print Making," published on March 2020, was removed by Youtube on Jan 23, 2021. Censors believe it violates their “harmful and dangerous policy” and have rejected our appeals. For the record, the video only talks about how to make mushroom spore prints as the very first step of identifying wild mushrooms. I have to stretch the concerning policy support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801964 a lot to imagine how this particular video can be interpreted as unsafe. Any video could be potentially dangerous by the same standard. Youtube could only fulfill its job of making itself “a safe place for all” when it removed all contents published on the platform. But dictators are not to be reasoned with, and we knew that well enough. Hard not to see where this Youtopia is going. — L.
