Sorry to hear this Sara. I'm about to move to Houston and can't imagine not having any AC this time of year. Best wishes that your AC gets fixed soon and your condo experience improve

Oh man, I'm in Ft.Worth too and I'd die if my AC broke. I hope yours gets fixed soon!

Dang. That really sucks. Especially because it’s not even your personal ac that’s broken so you can’t get anyone out to fix it. You have no control of the situation. Also, if the building is pretty old then that doesn’t help with how well the ac unit can keep in the cold and keep out the heat. You have a lot of Windows and if they’re not energy efficient then a lot of the heat will through inside the place. Also even bad insulation could contribute to your place being harder to keep cool. This is why a lot of new neighborhoods are being built “green” these days, it’s way more energy efficient and also helps to keep your house comfortable whether it’s hot or cold, with your ac unit doing the least amount of work. I definitely say go for a new build if you do end up planning on buying if it’s possible for you. Definitely glad I did. I hope everything works out for you! Good luck! (Also, don’t be scared to get in their faces about fixing things. Sometimes that’s the only way lol)

Sorry you guys are having to deal with so much Sara! I think a combo of two things might help (coming from a guy who has moved 8 times): 1) keeping work separate in an office or something is a good idea, not just for creating some balancing line between work and life, but so you can also accomplish more in your work without distractions and get that fulfilment from it that you are lacking at home, and 2) while working on the house, whenever you run into a big issue that seems arduous to solve, take a break from it and look for a handful of simpler things you can take care of - it will hopefully replenish your belief that you can still do meaningful work on the condo and perhaps give you a new perspective on how to approach the bigger issue. Also, psychology aside, portable AC could also do it 😂 Hope things improve for you both and the stress is able to recede

Ugh! I’m sorry Sara and John. That really sucks. It sounds like an office might be a good short term solution but I hope it’s fixed soon.

I live in Houston TX and can confirm it’s beyond hot. I’d suggest getting a portable AC unit to try and maybe cool down 1 of your rooms so maybe you and your hubby can at least get some work done comfortably. I live in a 1 story home and make YT videos out of my tiny room so maybe that is why I can cool my room so quickly and easily but just hang in there Sara WINTER IS COMING!!!!!!!!

I'd say getting an office would be the way to go, even if things were going swimmingly with the condo. Having that physical separation of residence and workspace is integral to sanity. At least, that's what I've been told. Living in my 10 square meter tatami mat room in Japan lol.

The planning and dreaming part of remodeling can be fun! But the actual renovation part can get old quick. I hope you’re contractor is quality, sticks to the budget, and the timeline.

Sorry to hear that, I really love the "remodeling the apartment" series, but if it is getting in the way of doing your job I think is fine not having the condo every single video, whatever suits you the best

I’m so sorry Sara! I don’t know if you remember me from having a nice conversation in Instagram DM‘s last year and then you followed me but you really helped me just by being nice and grateful for my support at a time when I needed to be lifted up! I hope you never forget that you are loved and appreciated and we are here for you no matter what you need to do for your career or how long things take we are here because we appreciate you! I hope you and John can hang in there, sending love and prayers! ❤️🙏

Hang in there Sara! Here in MN, we have terrible air quality cause of the Canada fires (I've been wearing masks since I do audio work outdoors 😐) but having it be 82 indoors definitely sucks more. Best of luck to you and John in your condo (and office) venture

Since you're already doing renovations, what about building a loft as your "away from home" workspace? Just a thought. 💚❤️ Things will get better, give it time

I think its fine to make a condo video with all the issues on the main channel. Just look at how hard Linus milked the multiple office moves! They like the content!

Fate is not in your favor in your new place it seems. Hope it all gets sorted out soon.

Oh... Sara, that's not good! I'm so sorry for that. Maybe your air conditioner loses the refrigerant (I guess is R410A).

Any office space available at Blanco that you could use short term?

Okay you guys… I’ve never done a community post here So who knows if it’ll even work.
You’re the people I’ve been talking to about this so I figure I’d give you a condo update… (I don’t want to complain to all of my audience and sound like a whiny baby haha)
Things have been looking on the up okay!!! Our insurance is covering like 90% of our special assessment (thank tha lord). The hammering noise has stopped for like a whole week. YAY!! I thought we were on the up and up and then…
Our AC is now broken 🙄 it has been a known issue and they “fixed” it yesterday. But we’ve had zero luck getting our unit below 82. Texas is extremely HOT right now. Weird to feel powerless in a situation like this bc hey just get a repairman out here! But it has to do with the floors unit not our individual one.
At this point I feel like I’m writing in my diary. My heart is full because I’m spending so much time with family and I’m pursuing business opportunities out here that wouldn’t have been impossible in NYC. Biggest issue is this freaking condo. Where we spend the majority of our time trying to live and work.
I can’t tell you how many times it has gotten in the way of just doing my job. Videos seem impossible here. I think the only short term fix is to find an office so I can separate this debacle with doing my job. I feel like I’m going crazy.
Next step? No idea. I’m excited for getting this place renovated at the end of the month but who knows how long we will actually be here. Dang. Okay✌🏻
