A quick update on YouTube and their 'massive increase in ads' strategy.
I've checked and sadly it's true that YouTube added both 'mid roll' AND 'unskippable ads' to my channel. There WAS, it seems, a YT communication prior to this action (in which we had the option to decline this automatic retrospective increase in ad placement) but it was obviously so clearly articulated that I - along with many others - missed it.

The result is that all 760+ of my videos got these kinds of additional and intrusive ads switched on. The YT interface allows me to change the monetisation settings - but only one video at a time and even that is a relatively clunky process. Right now I simply don't have enough spare hours to edit the monetisation settings of 760 videos...one by one....

So until I do have the time to chip away all I can say is 'sorry' and remind YouTube (once again) that this strategy was NOT a good move to retain creator goodwill. When it's too late you'll wake up to the fact that creators have left the platform and you'll have lost the vital content you needed to even dream of the subscription-only business model.
