It's a really difficult time for me. I am fortunate not to have been affected as of yet by the death that COVID-19 brings as it spreads. The elderly people in my life are safe as of right now and I am thankful.
But the pandemic has really disrupted every aspect of my life and no doubt the majority of people right now are feeling similar effects. Don't overlook the rest of the struggle it brings. Being uprooted from your life on such a massive scale like this can be a traumatic experience. Those feelings are valid. This situation has robbed so many people of experiences of varying degrees: school, weddings, graduations, travel plans, job opportunities, businesses and livelihoods, time with loved ones, you name it. You don't need to be experiencing the illness or grieving the loss of life the virus brings for this situation to affect you. I only say this because I've had people say such things to me. "People are dying, it's not that bad for you." That doesn't invalidate the personal effects this situation has caused for me or for anybody else. Don't let people tell you otherwise.
These are trying times. It's hard and frustrating but keep doing what you can to make it through. It's okay to yell and to scream and cry. But when you're done, keep moving forward with what you can. We'll all move forward with you and we'll make it through together.
