What are the cons of having a military background in law enforcement? Everyone always talks about the pros, but has there been any habits and such from your military experience which has gotten in the way of your police work? (Like use of force, de-escalation tactics, etc)

Getting out of the USN in about 6 months. Any tips tricks for becoming a cop would be appreciated but would you say the every day stress of being in the military goes away? Such as your superiors not caring about your personal life because the mission comes first mentality. And just the day to day stresses that only we service members understand. Or is becoming a cop just simply trading one uniform for another and dealing with the same day to day grind?

In today’s politically charged Climate, is it worth going through the process of becoming a cop and in day-to-day police work what the does the risk vs reward assessment look like for you.

I have a few: Has the military service ever been an advantage for you as a cop? (Hiring process, training, field experience) What branch do you prefer/recommend to join if people want to join the law enforcement community?
