Live updates: Thorpe Park closure due to serious 'stabbing' incident Thorpe Park had a closure in place this evening due to a 'stabbing'. There are reports on social media of a stabbing at the theme park on Saturday (July 18). The reports are yet to be confirmed; both Surrey Police and Thorpe Park have been contacted for further details on the incident. One theme park goer Tony Stone has told SurreyLive he is currently at Thorpe Park with his children who have been shaken by the incident. Mr Stone said: "I’m here with my children who are very concerned and upset. "We could see paramedics working on someone on the bridge. We have been told to come back in the park." Their only comment on the response can be found below: We were call to attend Thorpe Park in Surrey at about 4.50pm following reports of a person with an abdominal injury. On arrival, treated one person who was taken to a London Hospital. We are waiting for a full statement from Surrey Police. Medical staff on scene 'within minutes' Thorpe Park told SurreyLive in a statement that a medical team was on scene within minutes. Police were immediately notified. The Resort’s security team and fully trained medical staff were at the scene within minutes and administered immediate care until emergency services teams arrived. The Police were alerted immediately and the Resort is co-operating fully with their investigations. Thorpe Park confirms serious injuries Thorpe Park has confirmed in a statement that a guest at the park has suffered serious injuries. Part of their statement said: On 18th July 2020, an incident took place at the Thorpe Park Resort where a guest was seriously injured by another guest. People were pictured gathering in a large crowd with Thorpe Park staff reportedly handing out bottles of water. A huge crowd gathered inside the theme park Blood all over the floor' Mr Stone has told us he has now been able to exit the theme park. On his way out he took the following video and said he saw "blood all over the floor". In the short video, blue police tape can also be seen. Paramedics seen treating person on bridge Tony Stone, a father who was at Thorpe Park today, has described the scene this evening. Mr Stone said his children have been left "concerned and worried" due to the incident. At around 6pm, Mr Stone reported he was "stuck" in the park. Around 20 minutes later, he said: I’m here with my children who are very concerned and upset. We tried to leave at 5.05pm and were stopped at the front of the dome. We could see paramedics working on someone on the bridge. We have been told to come back in the park. There have been reports on social media of a "stabbing" incident at Thorpe Park this evening. The reports are unconfirmed; both Surrey Police and the theme park have been contacted for further information. Tony Stone, a dad at the theme park, has told SurreyLive he could see paramedics "working on someone" on the park's bridge. Updates to The Police were alerted immediately and the Resort is co-operating fully with their investigations. "The health, safety and security of our guests is our primary objective. We have an excellent security track record and have never had any incidents of this kind in over forty years. "Our staff are trained to respond to incidents of all size and scale, and the "Resort’s security staff maintain regular patrols on site. CCTV cameras are also situated throughout the Resort. "We will be maintaining contact with both the injured guests’ family and the Police."
