CarsThatLast

Hey My Friends! Are you in the market for a cheap car (under $2,000 U.S.)?
I wrote a short book on the subject that is free and available on the download. You can check it out here and sign up for future notices from CarsThatLast (note - I won't send you a bunch of stuff that clogs up your email either): mailchi.mp/4ef41e1faa72/carsthatlast2000dollarcarComment below on your thoughts on the book, thanks! - Bill ‪@carsthatlast441‬

I'm more so interested in your methods used to determine what cars are reliable. I already know what cars are going to be reliable Toyota followed by Honda. I've been seeing a lot of Hyundai Elantras and wonder if it's an up and comer that you can get for a better price than a Toyota.

Nice civic odo in the cover. You should talk about cheap long lasting luxury cars. I think a lot of people have gotten wise to the Honda/Toyota/Ford goliaths and driven up the price. I recently went to buy a v8 4 runner (wanted the full time 4wd) in the South with 7k only to find that for my money a gx470 was substantially cheaper. As in near the 225k mile mark and 7k dollars all the 4 runners needed work and maintenance (t belts) and tires and stuff. Or were just beat to hell. I got a very very nice Gx470 foot 7200 that had new wheels and tires, new suspension components because of the air suspension in them goes bad after 150k, and it only had about 190k on the odo. This isn't even an isolated thing. I looked at 20 cars in my week stay in that South

I enjoyed reading your book. It was very helpful. I often hear that these higher milage old cars are not to be used for daily driving putting 20,000 miles a year. Can you shed your thoughts on them?
