I didn't pick my phone based on 5G. It just comes along with the chip set.

The way phones are going. In a few more years it'll cost 5Gs to own one.

The phones I prefer are moving to 5G, hence why I'd buy a 5G phone today. I don't find 5G necessary, but if I have to add it to get a good phone then I guess I'll just add it for the usual just in case scenario.

5G was 3-4 years away implementation before the covid-19 situation. Now it will 2+ additional years. So it doesn't make any sense and I truly do hope that OEM's will not continue the 5G only models at high initial purchase price.

Let me add a third option: I don’t consider buying any phone because it does or doesn’t have 5G.

There's at least 2 years future for us Indian's no worries about 5G. But WiFi 6 is prefferd

I live in rural Germany, 5G will not even be a consideration for at least another 2, 3 years. Even 4G coverage is terrible to non-existant in some places.

If you are planning to buying the SE for 450(128gb version). Then you could buy the 12 for 549. It will be a great deal for $100 extra

That 4g still acts like 2g in some regions and mostly when I am on my bed, it would be nice if they fix that first before moving to 5g.

I bought a OnePlus 7t when the 8 pro came out and am enjoying it. I would consider a phone with something like the 765g in it but the battery drain on phones with the separate modem seems insane. I would rather have the 4g phone and upgrade earlier than a 5g phone which will slow down and lose support by the time 5g becomes widespread.

We aren't given a choice. Better question: how much is 5g worth.

I wish they offered Snapdragon 865 phones without 5G for like 150$ less. That would be a killer deal.

And in my home country India there is no sign of 5g for 2-3 years atleast it may be more (current using OnePlus 7t)
