Agreed. I would advise against people getting the “new” model if they have a switch and only play in docked mode. This model is good if you wanna upgrade from switch lite, maybe the og switch with less battery, or for the enthusiast. Transferring that save data though……

Nice work!! :) I'd buy it over the OLED lol. I've got my 2019 Switch and I'm about to get the Blue Switch Lite alongside lol, more interesting to me than the OLED

I plan to get the new Switch as I am a PS Vita 1000 owner and also want a bigger screen for tabletop/handheld mode. Also the 64GB NAND, while small, will actually help me a bit with my storage problem

I replaced my shell with the retro NES style it’s totally worth it, and I’ll probably get a clear green one to match my N64 next, that red looks awesome thanks for the idea!!

I got a switch in 2018. It heats up a lot when playing. Im not upgrading to the switch oled. The one i have still works.

I am getting close to doing the switch shell replacement, but removing the screen makes me nervous.

Who hacked the Erica's YouTube Channel? How do you say that "you don't need the OLED model" if YOU ARE A NERDY SCREEN QUALITY FANATIC 🤣. I saw a video from you about the 3DS family and almost the 80% of the video was comparing the screens 🤣. Even I think you said that you bought some 3DS versions only bc they had a different screen model. I'm a big fan of you as you are of the screens 😉. God bless you and your daught

I really want the old switch since I am so close to having every handheld Nintendo console model, so the collector in me really wants it. I might skip it for a while though. If I could transfer my Pokemon saves to it Id get it first day though. If I got the new one Id have to keep my current switch just for 2 games' save files...

Everyone keeps saying "if you own a switch dont upgrade" but my switch will start vibrating like a 5.0 on the Richter scale anytime the fan decides to spin so unless you can get it to stop I'm definitely upgrading.

Hey! If you want your joysticks also to be white, you can use joysticks from a switch light since they are the same!

gonna get it anyways for the quality of life improvements in handheld mode

Is there really reason for concern? I mean, they're really pushing the marketing on the OLED screen, which makes me think it's gonna be a good screen. I still boot up the old Vita OLED, it still looks great.

I’m hoping that we will be able to swap the backplate of new oled switch onto the regular switch

If you really wanna buy a second switch just get a lite. So many cool case mods with that one too.

I consoled myself after yesterday’s OLED Switch announcement and created a clear “Fire Mario” Switch. I’d say if you already own a Switch you don’t need the OLED model. This was a great mod to make old hardware feel new!
See @ExtremeRate ! This was a blast!
As for the OLED screen I have the worst feeling that it will be crap. 720p pentile at 7 inches??? It will look less sharp than the RGB stripe LCD of the current Switch and it will look “hatchy” with a screen door effect. Think of the oled screens of old.
I also think colors will be so grossly oversaturated that some games will look neon. If they don’t bother to calibrate the grayscale you will also have no details in shadows, making some content look overly dark.
It could be really dreadful.
If they properly calibrate these displays and include an sRGB mode to Switch to it could be OK.
