19 liters?! Was this in the ED? I am amazed this patient didn't suffer shock. In my years of nursing the most I have ever seen removed from one patient at one time is 5 to 6 liters, and even that was a stretch. Withdrawing that great of a volume in one go absolutely goes against evidence based practice.
