ADSB alarm is working -- yay! Now I have to just tidy it up and make a few decisions about the final version.

Which would you prefer:

1. a more expensive unit that was fully stand-alone and that had built-in GPS and a touch-screen interface to allow the setting up of intrusion-zones and displaying useful information

or

2. a simpler/cheaper unit that connects to a smartphone app via wifi or bluetooth so that your phone can provide your location data and the user-interface. In this case, if an intrusion was detected the alarm itself would beep but you'd need to get your phone out to see where the approaching aircraft was and other details.

Let me know which would be most useful.

Need to see how big is the price difference. Would like to use version 1 but version 2 should work fine.

Given the ubiquity of smartphones, option 2 seems like the best bet. It also has the advantage of being able to easily update/add functionality - usually automatically - unlike the firmware on hardware. But the app needs to be robust (works as expected on lots of versions of Android etc) and easy to use otherwise any failures will turn people off your product. One of the problems with many OEM products that use smartphone apps is that the hardware is good, but the software is poorly implemented/buggy etc. As a software engineer, I'm particularly susceptible to 'crappy' software....and no 'we'll fix it in the next update' won't do. That agile methodology approach might work in a bespoke app internally within a business but consumers want (and should expect) a fully featured, robust app for the given application, otherwise you are not getting your money's worth.

Both options seems marketable to particular prospective customers.. though I'm a blue collar Joe, so Option 2 for me please and thank you!

I like the idea of an all-in-one package, but I think a cheaper phone-paired version would be more accessible to more people. Either way, good job! 👍

@ChrisZwolinski

Option 2 would allow more versatility in that I can use it stand alone with my phone to just figure out who is buzzing the neighborhood.

V2, I think. I won't be able to look at another screen whilst flying my drone anyway. I'm interested to see how this thing works!

2 or simpler. At its core the functionality should be: alert type 1 at x km, alert type 2 at x metres. The phone or screen interface are nice to haves.

Version 2 as others have said will be a better seller. Depending on price I’d love an Version 1

@Rob-kj3ho

Version 2 tickles my fancy

@MrNewrossman

If option 2 is half the price of 1 go with 2. But standalone seems a safer less messy option

2 probably I’m broke because of fpv😂

Version 1 would be preferred.

@timeanspace

I'm going to go with option 2 purely for cheaper end user price

@MrFowl

I think you'd sell more of option 2, but I would prefer an option 1

@pfeerick

Version 2, with version 1 down the track as the 'premium' model, Maybe still put a small oled display on the v2, which could give you some basic info such as approximate distance, etc. You'll probably find v1 will overtake v2 when it's released because of the all-in-one nature of it.

@malinhiles

What price range and price difference are we working with? If option 1 is only a few bucks more, might be worth it!

@MrRcberlin

2 - the device itself could be able to indicate distance by beeping faster, like a parking distance alarm in a car.

@pippifpv

I would prefer option 2. Too expensive and a lot of people will go around it.

@James_Roth

Version 2 please.
