Emma Hill

Good morning everyone! How are we all doing?
I felt like I needed to write this because amongst the lovely and kind messages I’ve been getting I’ve also had a few really pushy ones demanding content about literally anything to be made to save them from boredom. Whilst I totally appreciate the boredom, we’re all in the same boat here 🤪 I have to say I’m not a performing monkey 🐒 and I mean that in the most lighthearted sense, because I know it seems harsh, BUT, it does sometimes feel like people don’t care how I’m feeling, they just want me to ‘entertain’. The pressure of feeling like I have to create content right now is the thing I’m struggling with the most.
A few of you have been asking where I’ve gone. Well I haven’t physically gone anywhere haha and did post a note on YouTube a couple of weeks ago which said I’ll let you know what I decide when it comes to a filming schedule, but clearly some people missed that 🙈 But I’m going to say the exact same in this note, I don’t know when my next video will be but I am fine and dealing with things the best I can. I’m active on Instagram on both my main account and my personal account so you can see snippets of bits and bobs over there, and evidence that I am still present on the internet super highway.

I have hundreds of videos on my channel, so maybe there are some that you’ve missed and can watch, there are lots of other videos on YouTube (millions in fact 🙊), podcasts, books, Netflix, Disney+, video calling friends & family, cleaning, going for a walk or exercise etc. etc. So whilst I appreciate you miss my videos, and it really is lovely that you do 💞, I’m sure you can all survive without them until I’m good and ready to film again.
I can’t really explain how I’m feeling at the moment, I’m mainly unmotivated and if I’m not motivated that’s not a good mindset to be in to create videos. Being on YouTube isn’t just a ‘job’ it’s my life, which can be pretty intense as work and life are merged into one, there are no boundaries, it’s unlike any other career/job. So I’m personally welcoming and enjoying the break I’m having right now but trust me when I say I’m doing my hardest to will myself 💪🏼 to get some motivation to film some videos for you but unfortunately it’s not as easy as just ‘snapping out of it’ 🙈

Right, now I’m off to listen to all the true crime podcasts you recommended over on my IG because I literally cannot get enough of them 🙌🏼

Stay safe and sending lots of love to you all 💞

I saw something that said "We are not working from home. We are at home, trying to work, in the middle of a global pandemic" I'm learning to be kinder to myself and others and go with those ebs and flows of feeling motivated/unmotivated ☺️

You have such an incredible essence, Emma. I think that’s what draws people to you, even more than your impeccable style 😉. Sometimes it makes me sad, even on Instagram... with this performing monkey conundrum. You post an adorable selfie just to say you survived another day of quarantine and you get 100s of comments asking where your PJs, nail polish, lamp, and tattoos are from. And then I think, can’t this woman just live without everyone needing to know where everything she’s ever touched was purchased? Can we not just enjoy the brightness she puts into the world and say thank you for that?! But I guess it’s a balance, because it’s part of your business. I’m glad you’re taking a break because you don’t owe anyone anything! Stay safe as well 🌻

This is the absolute perfect time for self reflection. Hopefully, individuals do not waste this opportunity to do just that. Accepting & showing compassion for our brothers & sisters is in order right now. Hopefully people work on themselves during this time. Peace & Love 💙

I get what your saying a 100%! Stay home, stay safe! My country has been in strict lockdown for over a month. We can’t walk the streets, we can’t drive around, we can only go out to attend medical visits, go to the drugstore or buy essential food. The part of stores that sell towels or printer ink o hangers, hell screws are closed! Only food or cleaning products. I have decluttered all my closets, pantry, laundry, car. I’m going crazy trying to occupy my mind, but thankfully me or my family haven’t been sick, and I guess that’s why the freaking lockdown is in place and working. I hope you, your family and your country can bounce quickly from this. Much love from 🇵🇷. Aile

You are so sweet. This is like no other time in our lives. And life as we know it is going to be a slow climb back to somewhat normal. You are right to take time for yourself - that's what we should ALL be doing. I've only just returned to things like YT - having taken some time myself to gather thoughts. You are so amazing, it's no wonder people miss having your charm and personality in their lives. Take time to take care of yourself - no one else will. :)

Glad you are ok. Before everyone jumps on me, I am not someone who has been asking for videos, but this is where communication is key, especially at a time of heightened anxiety. In the last community post you did say you’d keep everyone updated on a new schedule and ‘see you tomorrow’. Tomorrow is two weeks later. Now you have made it clear how you are feeling hopefully everyone understands. I think everyone is coping with this in different ways. I certainly got a little boost from watching yours and Simon’s videos everyday. I suspect some people had become pretty reliant on them because they were something that was normal in a sea of abnormalities and it doesn’t surprise me that some people, already in a pretty bad place, struggled with that just disappearing. Let’s all be kind and give them the benefit of the doubt too that they won’t hassle any more now and you can have the space you need. Stay safe Emma.

Amen!!!!! You stated it perfectly. Some people need to get a life. Take a walk, read a book, call a friend. Do what you need to do. Stay safe and take this time to regroup like the rest of the world

Hi Emma I just wanted to say we’re all dealing with this in our own way and you should feel under no pressure to do anything right now. I highly recommend all your past videos they are so helpful! My daughter is now beginning to think about making some more long term choices of items she wants to keep and cherish in her wardrobe. For her birthday she wanted a handbag and so I referred her to your many incredibly helpful videos and a choice was made!! Thanks so much! She loves her bag and will be following your advice on how to best care for it! You’re a star!🥰

I love what you do and appreciate the time and energy it takes. Not to mention opening up your private life to strangers. This is such a stressful time right now. I totally get what you're saying. Take care and be safe.

Absolutely!! Take a break, rest your brain! I did that for about a month and I feel more energized and less panicked about this new crazy life we are supposed to be living. Find the best in everyday, and if it isn’t in creating content (yet), that’s ok! We love you and your fam and I’m sure just more than me want you in full force, not in a begrudging performance! 💗 Love from the US!!

Hope you get through "this" okay. I've missed you terribly but I want you to be well whilst you do your job. Otherwise nobody wins. So much uncertainty. Hang onto those you love! X
