Closing in on the final tracks of my Upcoming EP, “For the Wolves.” Really trying to be smart about branding so I have a question for all of you guys. I love the name ghost in the machine but I feel like it’s just such a long name to represent a one person show. I originally came up with the name to represent how o thought of myself as the ghost (a nobody in the music industry) trying to create art in an industry that’s more concerned with churning out pop singles than art in its truest form (ergo the music industry being the machine). I’ve put a lot of thought into it, and I’m considering a name change so I don’t have to feel like it’s such a mouthful for people to say, and for me to explain when I’m showing people my music in real life haha.
OBVIOUSLY I want to pay homage to my original name, but I’m considering changing the band name from Ghost in the Machine to Ghosted for a couple reasons. 1) easier to say, and I think reflects the idea I’m only one person doing this a bit more
2) it still uses ghost, I don’t want to respect the roots of where I’ve started, but make it easier for song titles and stuff. For example, one of my upcoming songs is entitled “Homesick.” I think homesick by ghosted comes off the tongue a lot easier than homesick by ghost in the machine
3) as many of you know, my wife left me about 10 months ago, and I also feel the name ghosted reflects the way the industry treats small artists (just like ghost in the machine has) but also helps represent me as a person via one of the most difficult things to occur in my life, and feels more unique to myself as a person than something long
TLDR: Considering changing my name from Ghost in the Machine to Ghosted. You guys have been here with me and are just as much apart of the band as I am. So what are your thoughts?
