First great first watch of 2021 is ROCCO AND HIS BROTHERS. Feel like I've slept on Luchino Visconti a bit - having not watched as much of his work as Antonioni or Fellini, but I will right that wrong in the coming weeks.
I know Scorsese's favourite is The Leopard, but you can see the influence of this one more clearly in his work - particularly Mean Streets and Raging Bull. And it's like operatic neo-realism, which is very much Marty's bag too.
