Wake Thief

It's been 10 months since we launched Foiling NY on YouTube. Our mission has been to learn & share the sport of lake hydrofoiling. Today we launch Wake Thief, and our search continues to find the best foils for the lake, as we seek to create an endless wave comprised of the wakes on the lake!

Thanks for all of your help over the last 2 years or more!! Now I’m interested in what video camera you use with the invisible stick? Thank you so much!!

@AxisElk

Great job on the foil reviews / comparisons! It's nice to have someone like you focusing more on lake foiling / pumping, rather than all the videos you see about surf foiling big waves in the ocean. I was wondering if you could do a review on the new Slingshot Quantum 100 to see how it compares to some of the other brands of high aspect pump foils you have tried.

Love the channel great info ! I love how detailed and specific you are with ratings and comparisons. Do you have a spreadsheet or chart where all your data is compiled in one place ?

Great job on the wake thief logo 👍 ... I was thinking, after having tried dozens of foil wings, stabilizers, masts and fuselages you could most likely take all of the good things from all the equipment you ever used and design and build your own DREAM HYDROFOIL! ( take the best main wing you ever used and improve it, take the best mast length and shape and improve it, take the best fuselage length and shape and improve it.....

Many thanks for the videos and information. Amazing! ¿Which foil would you recommend for me? - Weight: 72k - 159pound - Will like to “wake thief” in a bay and pump - I can ride the first an second wake of a ski boat - I’m a competitive water skier - Do you sale any? Thanks again!

Great Videos! This is the first place I’ve been able to find equipment info that helps me understand what I would need to do what I want to do. I am very similar to your in weight and size and I basically want to do the same things you are doing so I’m sure the Axis 1150 would be great. But I’m a little hesitant to spend that much before I’m certain it will be something I love. I’ve been thinking of getting one of the Clearwater kits and glassing my own to see if this is my thing or not. Have you heard anything (good or bad) about the Clearwater hydrofoils?

Love all the info and helpful data! Any chance you could review the Armstrong HA1125 foil set up compared to your go to set up?

Great channel! Keep up the good work! Wondering if you have tried out the Slingshot Quantum 100 yet? I have all slingshot gear and wonder if it’s worth getting instead of paying $$$ and upgrading to Axis. Thanks!

What size wing do you recommend for dock start/self pumping??

@shaneparker2060

Many thanks for your well put together videos. I am looking to purchase my first foil for like use. Wanting to use it for much of the same reasons you do. I also do you have a ski boat but not one big enough to surf behind… Thus the foil. But would also really enjoy wake thieving. I’ve spent a lot of time on boards but never a foil. I also weigh 250 pounds. Is there a set up out there that you would recommend for my size? Thanks in advance

@agpsimoes

Hi! Thank you for your work helping us trying to understand all the different foils out there. I saw many of your videos and I understand that the Axiis 1150 is your favourite foil for lake. I wonder if you had opportunity to try some Takuma foils? Regards from Sweden

@mike_schlee

great info and really like your approach to reviews. i currently have a slingshot setup with 3 foils (68/76/84). i keep going bigger cause i want to surf smaller wakes and pump longer. watching your videos i'm now thinking of going high aspect. looking for pumpability but would like to retain some carving. i'm foiling in a bay (peconic bay on long island) so the water always has some chop. i'm 160lbs and have a wakesurf boat (axis a22). i'm thinking of the axis 910 or 1010. how do you think those would compare to my slingshot 84 and anything else i should be thinking about? thanks in advance for guidance and all the info you put online.

Great channel and really appreciate your reviews and insight. Do you plan to review the newly released Armstrong Pump foil (APF 1675 or APF 1880)?

Hi, have you look at Taaora hydrofoil. They will launch an Wing with flaps control by an electronic box. First to improve stability but seems that it could also improve pumping.

@HoopsnGitfiddles

In the spirit of being a 'wake thief', have you ever addressed what are the cheapest and simplest boats for sustained low-exertion wake foiling? I know you added the wake attachment to a jet ski, but what about inexpensive tow boats? What is the cheapest entry to wake foiling that allows you to carve with minimal pumping? Thanks!

@J10TAY

Can you please try out a gong foil? They recently released a few new lines of high aspect wings

Looking at the ronix surface 727. I just bought a Yamaha 252SE. Is this a product you would recommend for those new to foiling
