Brian from Adobe reached out about Premiere Pro editing performance and wanted to know some more info. I’m getting some info about how certain things work and giving them feedback. Hopefully this and future talks will bring some updates for all you Ppro editors!

Glad you’re in contact! With this new update, it seems like I spend more and more time in their bug report forum figuring out if everyone else is having as many issues.

At least they are listening. Sometimes it feels like Adobe has an impenetrable wall set up around itself. You must be doing something right to get their attention.

Adobe has done great softwares like PS and LR but Premiere just can’t keep up with Final Cut Pro X on Mac which is much more efficient. Rendering times aren’t even comparable, it’s a fact.

I am a happier man since switch from PP to Resolve.

I edit on Premiere because I am paying for Photoshop and Lightroom but lately it’s been nothing but headaches and I do have a powerful pc. I might need to explore FC or Resolve.

+Max Yuryev, I mentioned H265 because that's the codec you mentioned in the screenshot. As for "why bother"? It's because H264 & H265 are compressed codecs that don't have the same detail information as the other flavors i mentioned before, They're interpolating information from neighboring frames, and to be using those codecs can cause errors when you're applying effects. It's simply not about "handling" the codec, it's about having the best information in your data and avoiding digital dirt and hits when you're exporting. It's a flawed mentality to think that just because everyone is doing it, it must be okay, it's simply spreading misinformation

I don’t understand why people pay high monthly subscription fee and get worst performance.

Hey Premiere Pro staff...if you're listening. If we could only mask via colour (like colorista) our creative luts etc in lumetri that would be sweet!!! So for example...a skin mask on my whole lumetri node so that I can dial in how much grading to apply to skin...leaving background normal. Hope that makes sense (kinda like resolve does...cos I'm locked in to the Adobe creative suite eco system)

@-joedal-

Hi PPro staff, is it possible to have a magnetic timeline + a way to apply LUT only in shadows or highlights with some luma-mask ? It's the only things really missing :) Tx

Someone commented on multi cam editing. I dont know how to fix any bugginess. But...for a couple of years now I've been gathering the shots.. making my multicam sequence...but after that... I edit it manually . Ie scale one shot down over the other or make corners . Sounds old school. But now it never crashes. And when I'm done...select all and remove attributes (motion) and they all pop back. (Or copy and paste if its downsize 4k to 1080 etc) I find the other way, the multi cam select takes me out of the edit emotionally. Just my 2 cents

H.265 is NOT an editing codec, it is designed to be compressed for consumers to enjoy after the fact on a web stream. Try encoding to an edit codec such as ProRes or DNxHD/DNxHR or even Cineform. These are great codecs that would save you heartache

Please tell them about the consistent crash when changing the project file name during export.

I just wish they offered the same deal they offer for Photoshop. Make a $9.99 and $20 bundle
