Well, it finally happened...200,000 subscribers. That is just an absurd amount of people, and this milestone completely caught me by surprise. Thank you to the 4% of those who actually watch the stuff, and the remaining 96% who subscribed that one time but completely forgot cause I upload once every few decades.
I've been on this website for over 12 years now; watched it develop from a simple video hosting site, to a bastion of creative greatness where creators blossomed...and now into the corporate capitalist cesspool that it has become. When I made this dumb channel back in '07, I did not expect it would go anywhere at all...it was just a personal channel to watch dumb stuff (hell, it still is).
Then Cold happened...which I still have a soft spot for, but dear lord it's so terrible. YouTube (well, technically me but mostly YouTube) screwed up the audio and somehow made it worse, but it's still getting views for some reason. But Cold isn't my true 'flagship' series...Shlock definitely is. They've been the strangest, yet most satisfying videos to make, and I love that people appreciate the ridiculous amount of work that goes into each scene. Plus the understanding that I try to double my efforts on each sequel (which is why the next one is a long, long way away) is very much appreciated.
I wish I had more time for this channel. I wish I could make consistent videos on a regular basis, without having to worry about money, or time, or taxes, or any of the crappy adult stuff that I'm forced to focus on instead of fulfilling things. I wish I could've interacted more with you all, created a true community, met in real life....all that good stuff. But there's no point in dwelling...I am extremely grateful for each and every one of you. Yes, even the guy who keeps asking for a Cat in the Hat YTP.
But I'm glad where we are now. I'm making YTPs as a hobby, and it feels much more fulfilling than if I were making them on a deadline to sustain myself. I tried that with Patreon, and that didn't work for multiple reasons. Although I still wouldn't be against running this channel for a living, but I'd need some sort of disposable income...and living in Melbourne with a freelance job does not provide such luxuries. That's still a dream that I know won't come true, but I can still imagine...oh man, just think if I could make a 5+ min YTP each week...if only...
Nevertheless, thank you again for sticking with me for so long. I don't know where this channel will go from here, but I'm humbled to see how far we've come.
I'm aiming to release the Joker YTP soon, followed by the big one: COLDER. I'll be waiting for the 4K release cause this one's gonna be big...and it'll also double as our 200k celebration! Then hopefully a familiar (liquified) face in April...aaaand whatever happens after that. Don't wanna schedule anything cause then it becomes stressful...but stuff will release whenever it's done.
Thanks everyone. - Numberer1
As for everything else...I've been editing Game Theory videos for almost 5 years now (even the new intro!). I've been trying to develop a much more personal channel in my limited spare time too, but motivation has been fleeting and - since it's a passion project - it's changed so much over years that I don't even know if it'll ever come to light (not to mention my limited spare time). The state of YouTube and the DOWNWARD SPIRAL that it's currently in is extremely demotivating too, and I'm constantly worried that this channel will just disappear. Sadly, there will come a day when I stop making YTPs...but they'll always be a part of me and my work. Can't wait to see what the future holds.
