Apologies for the delay, this week's song is coming later today. I just felt like posting some thoughts and experiences on the state of Hands Up and the Nightcore I make from it. Don't worry, nothing different is happening with the channel :) Now, brace because a rant is coming.

For the past like 2-3 years it's been quite difficult to find good songs to upload. As you know most of the Nightcore I upload is made from Hands Up, and it's no secret that the genre is very niche, not just in the commercial scene but also among artists who make music just for fun. It used to be that I could look at the releases for a single week and there'd be a ton choose from, I'd find way more than I needed. Today I looked at what was released in the past month and I found just 3 songs that seemed promising. Out of those there was only 1 that I felt was worth its own video, and that one had already been uploaded by several other big Nightcore channels.
So you see the problem. 1 month, 0 songs. If you're curious why I'm not uploading twice a week + mixes as I did around 2013-2014, this is why. I have to search in the past for suitable songs, it takes a lot of time, and yet at the same time I feel like what I do come up with isn't quite as good or varied. This more than anything makes me not want to upload. I want to share music that makes me drop what I'm doing and feel "holy shit, I have to show this to people, NOW!", not toil for 3 hours and question if what I come up with was even worth the effort.
And before anyone asks, I'm not trying to say that current Hands Up is bad, if it would be just about finding good songs then there would be no issue. Problem is the song has to be good as Nightcore! Male vocals and instrumental tracks are becoming more common, the overall style of singing is less Nightcore-friendly, and songs are overall becoming faster by default. Did you know that when I started out I used to always speed up by around 23-27%, but today for new songs it's typically 15-20%.
This is why I've been doing other things like making a gallery website, or try my noob hands at an After Effects template. I'm motivated to work on things that I feel are getting better the more time I spend on it, as opposed to the uploads which are slowly getting worse, or at least more time consuming to get good.
But of course I'll still upload. I still get the itches when something great comes up that just begs to be shared, that must be shared. Is the one going up today such a song? Nah. It didn't just come up, it was a pain to dig up. That's why the song is going up later and not now, I need to rest before doing the captions. During my 6 month hiatus I was waiting - hoping for an amazing new release to come along and bring me back. It never came. I think those days are long gone by now, had to suck it up and pull my lazy ass back in the game. Turns out the music is worth the effort.
And for those who made it this far down... thanks for listening you absolute masters!
