Glitch in the Matrix Multi-Media

So what is with all the remixes? I was asked earlier on a video if I was ever going back to reactions and it made me realize that I have gone rogue but haven't explained anything to anyone, so here we go....

Right now I am just feeling out some new stuff. The reactions take a toll with copyrights, the views really vary depending on how popular the song is, etc. In other words, all the views are based on how popular a band or song is, and I like to introduce people to the more obscure great stuff, yet, when I introduce a song that I truly love and I am passionate about, but the song was not top of the charts, no one watches, so what I wanted to accomplish with reactions doesn't seem to be working. I really don't care to watch, react, and listen to songs that everyone has heard a trillion times, just trying something new trying to figure things out. It wears me out to put a video together for a GREAT song that I love and want to share, but since it isn't AC/DC or Pink Floyd, no one cares. That seems to be my hang up I am sorting through right now. I started this channel to introduce great music that many/most might not have heard and/or forgot about, essentially great but more obscure music, but no one seems to care, so it really broke me down and I started to feel like I was selling out and putting out music only the masses would want to see, and I stopped caring as much, and eventually didn't care at all, so my family knew I wanted to try to start mixing, so I got the board for Christmas, love learning and what I am attempting to do, taking old music and adding new flare, and so far, this is the only thing that has brought my passion to the channel back. So to answer your question, more reactions, maybe, but I am not 100% yet as my original passion for the channel with the original format has been deflated quite a bit. BUT....this might be what comes next. I have a Patreon Channel that is $1 a month that I might keep all my reactions on and move to remixing the classics on the primary channel, I don't know yet, but just tossing around ideas. I don't think a lot of people realize how much goes into making these videos and keeping the channel fresh for new and existing subs, and when the passion for what you are doing becomes deflated and or beat down because it isn't working, it makes you really step back and re-evaluate what you are doing.

Thank you for the explanation. I actually subscribed to your channel when you did a reaction to a The Warning video with your daughter. I’m a huge fan even though they are definitely not mainstream and I still think they are a great band to start with to get your daughter to like/appreciate rock music which, if I’m not wrong here, is something you wanted. Cheers! ✌🏻

I definitely wouldn’t say you were “selling out” by doing more mainstream reactions. The one element that separates your reaction videos from all the others on YT, even reacting to the most mainstream song unique - you actually give a little history about the song, the band, or both. It’s definitely appreciated but probably exhausting putting in all the extra time for research that every other reaction channel just doesn’t do. Kudos to you for that! I would love to see that element of the channel continue, even if greatly reduced, but the change is definitely understandable. When you’re creating, you gotta do what you enjoy... otherwise it becomes one daunting task after another.

Hey I’ve been subbed to your channel for awhile now. I like what you’ve been doing and as a father myself I really enjoy the interaction between you and your kids it’s nice to see a good relationship. All this being said, this is your channel so do with it as you wish there will be people watching. The passion that you put into creating your videos is what keeps people coming back and subscribing. I’ve seen some of what I thought were really dumb subjects for a YT video but the person was really into it and I found myself being entertained nonetheless. Thanks for at least sharing what is in your mind to do with your channel and keep up the good work.

I really like the different content. And honestly, watching you react to mainstream songs that everyone knows would get boring real quick. So I understand you there. It's sad that people are super volatile, but at the end of the day, you gotta make the content that you want. You clearly have a passion for it which is always fun to see.

Some of my favorite reactions have been you trying to get your daughter to enjoy the music you picked out. Great father daughter interaction. Wish you would react to BabyMetal BxMxC the official video

Dude, you have 100K Subs. Don't wait too long before making up your mind on what to do. I've always though your stuff was enjoyable.

While wanting to introduce your viewers to great music they don't know is a noble goal, that's not why people watch reactions. In fact, it's entirely the other way around. I don't watch reactions to anything I don't already know myself, because the reaction format is an awful way of being introduced to something new. If I am hearing a great new song for the first time, I don't want someone else to pause and comment on it every 30 seconds. On the other hand, watching someone else hearing a great song for the first time that you already know and love is an interesting experience.

Heya, refreshing to see someone trying to evolve beyond the reaction conveyor belt of the same ol' same ol' i've seen developing recently on youtube music reactions. So i popped over and subscribed and gave your tears for fears vid a little listen. Don't worry i'm not going to be a dick, seemed like a fair try for someone at the steep end of a learning curve, to me, just one thing, presentation is a biggie. I couldn't not keep seeing the grim concentration on your face, lol. Try to relax and enjoy yourself dude, this is rock 'n' roll not the x-factor. There's no bootcamp or dismissal for failure, i'm not judging. ...yet :)

I appreciate that it's a lot of effort to keep videos going, for sometimes barely any noticeable result. A possible idea for future would be to keep patreon going as well as the main channel, but include a bit of everything you're doing in both. Keep everything on patreon, but on youtube, put what you feel will be best received. You can livestream of patreon, but upload it to YouTube after. You could do more vlogs if you're family is up for it, they always seem to help channels where vlogs are not their main purpose. It's good to involve brand new releases as reactions from yourself as well as with family members, your discussion with them could involve how some trends now were popular before or even how today's music compares to older generations. The unfortunate thing is, there is literally tons of possibilities for videos, but nobody ever knows how well it will do, so is it even worth trying, that puts a lot of people off. Hopefully everything continues well with your channel, I enjoy listening to your opinion on music, bands and even movies, I seem to agree a lot.

People are most interested in the reactions of you and your daughter to songs that are dear to them. They’re also interested in reactions to songs they love, and maybe you and your daughter haven’t heard them. I think putting yourself in the foreground and saying that you will only comment on what you want is what has moved a certain number of people away from the channel. I’ve been following the channel for years and it’s normal for me to skip what I don’t like. People follow a lot of channels and all they want is for someone to share the emotion with them and comment on what they themselves like. Personally, I don’t like any mixing or electronic music. I love rock music especially the old one. I love covers that people do on the same and people comments on the same those covers. I know youtube has tightened copyright a bit, but the thing is, they don’t want someone to make money through someone else’s copyright. I follow many channels with reactions. Some are completely non-commercial and some are symbolically commercial. I have noticed that there is less censorship on those who earn less or who are purely made out of love, with no personal earnings. There is also an alternative, and that is to upload the same video with the reaction that you have on the youtube page to Vimeo. When part of a song or the entire audio is put under mute, people click on the link below on Vimeo and look at the same comment without restriction. Think about it a little. People outside the US don’t like the dirty version of capitalism and the greed for money. The modesty and respect of those who follow what you want to show is appreciated. After all, modesty is what is also propagated in the Bible. Some would like to drive expensive cars and live in expensive houses while 1/3 of humanity is starving, and another third are looking at how to pay utilities and survive.
