I started off playing alto sax for middle school concert band. I continued on to play for my high school wind symphony and jazz band and participated in the marching band as well. It was a great experience because we got to go to Scotland for the Edinburgh Easter parade, New York to play at Carnegie Hall, and Los Angeles to play at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. After high school, I slowly stopped playing saxophone and picked up piano. I couldn't play reading music sheets but I ended up learning improvisation with just melodies and chords. I played for my church youth choir for several years with that style. Jim Brickman was my main inspiration. And then I found your channel and was just blown away by your style and talent. It makes me want to start recording and put up YouTube videos again. So thank you for your inspiration.

I started when I was 8 learning piano with a classical teacher. My father was a church organist player and a piano bar player (yes both of them!! - church during the day, bar on nights). Now at the age of 80, still writes books of liturgical music. I always played during these years (i’m 55) but 3 years ago I started taking jazz lessons from a very good teacher, I like it very much. I love playing piano covers too, founding a big help on YouTube covers , expecially from yours, that i think are the best. I use AudioStretch application to find the notes. Congratulations and carry on playing for your devoted public !! Thank you and Merry Christmas

I've always wanted to learn the piano but never did. Started two years ago (I'm 30 in May) and it has been a great experience. Easily the most difficult thing I've ever done. Video game scores like Final Fantasy got me into music, and inspired me to learn.

I started with cello as a child; my dad's a church musician so he encouraged me to start. Today my main's singing, both classical and a little bit of jazz and lighter music :)

I️ had never had any kind of musical talent or skills but I️ was always had an interest in learning the guitar. I️ picked up the guitar during my senior year in high school and when I️ became a Christian, I️ devoted my time serving the church and playing for the worship team. From there on, I️ was able to pick up music theory and multiple instruments. I️m truly grateful for learning and still learning the wonders of music. Plus, I️ am marveled how universal music is and can truly harmonize with other cultures. Stay passionate with what you are doing and thanks for inspiring me Jason! Merry Christmas and God Bless. 😁

My musical interest started with my grandfather who played a ton of jazz all his life which lead me to pick the trumpet. Since then I've expanded to tenor saxophone, guitar, ukulele, and piano. I'm now just looking for ways to get some attention for what I do!

I started off playing the violin, but it hurt my fingers too much! Same with guitar; eventually I switched over to piano and that's been my instrument for the past decade! unfortunately, i've lost most of my playing skills due to negligence mainly resulting from my busy school load. Now I mostly enjoy watching others play, though I'm still pretty decent myself.

Honestly my entire family has always been musical I never had a choice. I tried to quit but those were the 6 most miserable years of my life. I couldn't escape my desires to immerse myself in music. As a result I play alto sax and piano. I write a lot of solo piano music and like making sax covers. To be honest I was thinking of starting a channel to see what people think.

Hi all! I’d love to hear a little bit about your musical backgrounds. Do you play an instrument, and if so what inspired you to learn? Or, do you enjoy listening, but never learned to play?
Please leave a comment and I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to share your YouTube channel if you want me to take a listen!
Cheers!
