First off, I'm not dead! Probably not too surprising since this post popped into your feed but, ya know, you got to celebrate your wins.
I felt that I should update y'all really quick about the channel: I'm planning on recording and releasing videos again starting in May. I'm going to start with one per month for now and will try to get to biweekly by December. I'll be pausing the Patreon until July so that I can be at that pace for a couple of months (although I'll still be mentioning the Patreon in the videos that I release between now and then since my hope is that the videos are more evergreen). There are a couple of ideas that I've promised to make (namely: state's rights and the Myanmar coup) that I still have every intent to get to but that I'm letting simmer while I get more research done. I'm also going to be experimenting with using the shorts to do more of the contextualizing political news--because the new happens so quickly--while saving the longer videos for more evergreen content.
I also want to thank you all for still being here. I was hoping that my feelings of fatigue and burnout would magically evaporate after graduate school; I had no idea how tired I truly was. After some rest and adjustment to my new life outside of academia, I'm raring and eager to continue to explore our incredible social world. <3
